Guys im sorry but I need to VENT!!!!
I just read through all of the posts, and I must say that I am really disappointed with what happened. These types of things happen in ever dealership, believe it or not. The detail boys are some of the more immature (in my experience) breeds, and they will drive, and abuse anything the can get their hands on.
Hopefully the dealer will take care of things in a professional manner, ie firing that SOB kid, and reimburse you for any added wear to the tires and anything else that happened. Just be happy it was only 8 miles. I know other people who have had 30-40 miles added to their odometer and the problem still wasnt fixed.
Its hard to find honest people in today's society.

If I went to the dealership to check out the situation and found out some chump that worked there had been drivin my car, and beating on it, I don't know if I could hold myself back from giving him a sick beatdown. I wouldn't even car if nothing happened to it, just the principle of someone else taking your car out, at the dealer who you think could be trusted, and joyriding with it.
A friend of mine came up with this idea, whenever he takes the car into the shop for a long service that requires him leaving the car there, he writes down the milage of the car onto a piece of sticky note and tape that onto either the gauge penal or the steering wheel, that way whoever works on the car will know for a fact that the owner wrote down the milage.
update: The kid is beaten to a pulp, the owner is now on the loose and wanted in 3 states.

Back when I drove VWs we took my wife's Passat to Springfield VW in Springfield, VA for some service. Because of a backordered part the car had to be left at the dealer for four days over a weekend. Somehow the car managed to get about 160 miles racked up on it during the time it was there. When I confronted the service manager and dealership they basically told me to go screw myself. I told them there was no way in he!! I would ever buy another VW. How the he!! do these companies think they can sell and service $65K-$80K vehicles like the Toureg or Phaeton with such crappy service departments.
When will Mitsubishi realize that, good dealerships or bad, as far as the customer is concerned, the little farquads that work for the dealerships that pull this crap ARE MITSUBISHI.

wow dud, i have never heard of that before, the only fuse that you can pull is on that works the whole guage cluster and with out that the car will not start, tell me what fuse it is, i am very curious to know.

this whole time, your car has been in for anti lock brake problems, and you only have 8 mile on the odometer?!?! you should have more than that if the techs were test driving it, now im not doubting that some one may have abused it, i dont work for that dealership nor do i know of it. but if a car was to come into our shop here with abs probs, and we had the car for 10 days like yours, and the tech test drove it appemting to get the vehicle to act up, in all right there should have been more miles, at the least 10-15 miles, just depends on how long it took the car to act up. granted like i said, i dont know if you car was abused by the detail depart. like what was earlier stated, but i do know 8 miles isnt something to buck about esspecially if you took it there to have the abs worked on. my larger $.02
