Seems like more older folk (and I'm 32 so I'm talking about the 50-60's) drive the Scoobies. Perhaps it's because it's an easier car to get around with.

You can always get an Evo with the Sun and Leather package.

The evo is so far from luxury if you are on the fence it is not for you. If you want luxury and have 35 to spend have you thought about the new audi a4? Have fun buying a new car it is always a good tiime.

I say definitely get the Evo. I mean, you're already leaning towards it anyway, so there has to be SOMETHING attracting you to it. Sure, there's some truth to what your brother said, but if you're especially young (i.e. 16 - 20 roughly), then I doubt you'll get bored with the Evo anytime soon. I'm 23, had my first car since I was 16, and I love the Evo to death. I could've gotten a more "luxurious" car, but to me the Evo has everything - looks, speed/performance, originality...

I was in the same boat as you about 3 weeks ago and also looking in the 30-35k price range. Without a doubt I wanted an evo, but my parents were trying to talk me into a more "practical" luxury car. I was looking into the G35 coupe, Acura TL, Honda Accord coupe, and Lexus IS300. I spent many nights reading reviews and looking up information about all of these cars and had narrowed it down to the G35 and the TL. I really liked the G35 because it had good power, good looks IMO, and I LOVED the seats. The TL had 4 doors, decent power, and a comfortable interior for more than the people in the front seats. After way too much thinking about which car to get, I couldnt make up my mind. I still had not test drove an evo, so I did and I was sold. What Im trying to say is just go get the evo if that is what you really want. I did and dont regret my decision at all. I bought the evo because it is a race car for the street, and the vehicle it replaced was a streetbike (thanks to the guy who ran me over). You cant go wrong with the G35 though. It is an excellent car that is very comfortable and fun to drive, but it just didnt have enough power for me. I put 1400 miles on my evo the first weekend, and I thought the cloth Recaros were very comfortable. I wasnt tired of sitting in them for 6+ hours at a time (but my right foot was dying for cruise control). Also, the evo community seems really great. I have been lurking on this board and norcalevo.net for quite some time. Everyone seems really nice and helpfull, and every evo I have seen while out driving has given a friendly wave. I know it's not an easy decision, but I hope my post helps (sorry about the length)! Good luck!

you have to kinda think about yourself when your getting a new car...you should take into consideration the weather also...for example right now i have a 350z that im selling...i want a 4door car now....with my 350z i had to put it in storage over winter...i want sumthin more driveable now...i was first lookin at getting a is300...looks mean but it isnt that quick....i wanted sumthin a lil faster than my 350z...plus the is is rwd...so winter driving would still suck like my Z....i wanted to get something more luxurious this time but i figure im still young (21) so i should just get sumthin more fun yet more practical...now im looking into wrxs and evos....leaning towards a evo but i would really like to find a good deal on a used one with low miles...but we will see....dont ask other people opinions about what kinda car YOU shoudl drive...go test drive the ones you like...then buy it.

you dont want a tl. They are really lacking in power. I would say g35 or m3 if you want lux. M3 is expensive but you get what you pay for. If you plan on getting any car besides the evo I hope you are happy with the HP becuase is is ALOT more money to get more power out of any of these other cars than the evo. My friend was in the same situation that you are in and bought a 350z trac model with nav etc.. The car is extremely nice but I gotta tell ya, its fast and pulls good but does not have the kick of the evo. If you want speed and handling get the evo without a doubt. The performance is great and if you drop a couple mods on it, you will blow away the cars you listed. The looks is kinda ricey but believe me you will probably get more props on it than the others as it is more rare and most people actually know what it is. I come out from a store or whatever and have older people asking me about my car all the time. The bigass brakes and fmic look awesome and grab mucho attention.

For 30-35000 you can get one very nice NSX. I don't know if practicality is what you are seeking but you can drive the NSX like an Accord all week and then beat the tar out of it at the track with minimal maintenance. I owned an Evo and one thing that bothered me for daily driving was the steering being way too quick (it was great when I was driving aggressively - but I don't do that 24/7) and the oem suspension beat the snot out of you. Unless you are considering an MR don't buy one if you are doing mainly street driving. If you will track this car then I'd lean towards it.

I'd also second looking into a used M3, you'll take it up the butt on maintenance though. Don't listen to M3 owners too closely, ihad some at the track the other day basically saying all they do is fluids and gas and it's way cheaper to run than my NSX. I believed them about as far as I could throw them.

Owned a G35 Sedan. Hated the seats - the coupe is a little better, especially with the stick shift = narrower tunnel. Evo much more comfortable. Handling and acceleration on the G35 is nowhere close to the Evo. The G35 also have some quirky panel controls. I can actually turn on my radio with my Evo....
The G35 Coupe is one of the greatest looking cars ever - but if you need a trunk you're SOL. No trunk in the GTO either.
If you can take the rought ride - get an Evo.

I would not say that anymore...Bimmer quality has slipped about as bad as MB. There is nothing luxury about the EVO, but it is one tough car and if given proper care it will go over 100k miles I'm sure.
