Evo in the long run?

Im about a week Im going to be getting a new car. I have had a hard time deciding between the typical Evo vs STi. That part is over and I am really really leaning towards the Evo, but one thing that still bothers me is my brother keeps making me think about more of a luxury car. He said when he was younger he didnt car about luxury at all just power, but now he is slowly caring less and less about power and wants luxury. Dont get me wrong I dont mean I dont care about power at all, I want at least the 270-300 hp range, but how do you guys feel about owning the evo? I know I want the evo, but I plan on keeping whatever car I get for at least 6-7 years, so I was woundering if the performance of the car makes up for the lack of good interior. Also by the way the car I own now is a lancer Oz, which is already the same interor minus the seats, gauges, and sterring wheel. The cars I have been looking at so far if I was to go luxury would be maybe Acura TL, or an Infiniti G35, and my brother also keeps telling me to look at the GTO. What do you guys think of these cars compaired to the evo?

Well since you have a lancer you pretty much know what to expect from the EVO interior, not too much special except for the seats. IMO if not the evo I like the G35 coupe, it has a good balance between power and luxury. It is more civilized ride than the 350Z and has a functional rear seat. I like the ride in the M3 too. I would still get the EVO and forget about the GTO, just my opinoin

well it has to be in the 30-35k price range, so the M3 is kinda out.

I don't know, german cars have a good rep, but I don't think you'll go wrong buying a G35 eighter. You can run those engines forever if you keep up with minor maintenance. BMWs are going to be more to service though if you don't plan on working on it yourself. Oh yeah, my friend just got a new TL and that's a hot car too but it isn't going to pull like the evo, m3, or g35

Isn't the M3 a little out of the price range compared to a EVO, G35, or TL? Lets be a little realistic.

Just from my experience of owning a couple mitsubishi car's I have to say that they have cost alot more to maintain than other vehicles I have owned. I am only going with an EVO for weekend racing purposes and understand that owning the EVO I will be putting money into the car regularly since I will be jumping the hp up over stock form.

If you are not positive on the car you want then test drive the other cars until you feel you are making the right decision. I personally love the looks and performance of the G35 and the price is close to the EVO. You can pick up a slightly used G35 and probably be very satisfied with all the luxury it has to offer.

If you want different interior go for the leather package in the evo...I went from an IS300 to the EVO. I got spoiled with the leather and all the goodies so I decided to get the sun sound and leather package...I have no regrets...If you're getting out of the mitsubishi family then I recommend the M3...

In the 30-35k price range, luxury + power, G35 coupe and GTO and both good choices.
but when you think about the cost to keep the car...G35 would be a better choice..i think!

GTO is 6.0L V8 ...G35 is 3.5 V6, both non-turbo, for the gas mileage, i think G35 will save you a lot of gas.

for the styling, i think G35 looks much better than GTO.

Of course..when comparing the power, GTO will stands out..it has 400HP

But for me..i will pick G35, no doubt!!

Also, for low 30K, you may consider a fully loaded Accord Coupe, V6 with a 6-speed, i think it would be a good daily driver too.

Im not ruling out the Evo though, Im actually leaning the most towards it, Im wondering from your opinion of owning one, does the lack of luxury matter in owning it. More or less would you be happy with one of the other cars or do you love your Evo too much. I dont own one yet but it has been my dream car, the only thing Im worried out is as time goes on possibly wanting more luxury than the Evo has.

Well honestly you have to look at your age. You say 6-7 yrs. Think about where your going to be. I mean honestly if your like 25 I feel your basically almost at the end of your speed over comfort range. However if your like 19-20 I would say go with power cause you'll still be craving it. But keep in mind one thing. Once you have been spoiled with all that power it will be crazy hard to go back to something slower.

G35 is still a nissan engine so keep that in mind its like when people ask me all the time if I think the Lexus is a good car.. well over all its a Toyota Engine with a few upgrades..

In terms of maintenance and over all longevity, If you arent a "Street Racer" or test its limits 100 % of the time .. the evo will be a good Choice ... People have been having problems with the tranny/clutch and other items due to poor driveability on their part. What others would call "Ricers" or "Show-Offs"...

Infinities are no Nissans and Lexus are no Toyotas. There is a reason they rank so much higher in customer satisfaction and luxury than their lowly siblings.

I just finished detailing my Evo. As I was working on the interrior, I kept thinking how cheap the materials are that Mitsubishi used. The fit and finish is also poor. If longevity is something you seek, go with the G35 and blow it. Or wait till 2008 and get the Infinity GT-R!

It's all up to you wher do you think you will be in 6-7 years. I've never owned a car more than 3 years except for a beater, in fact the average length of ownership is 44 months. You'll probably be bored in with it anyway in 6-7 years.

Today I saw a guy in his 50-60's driving a brand new STI.
