A/C makes car almost stall sometimes
I had the same issures until I installed my jdm mr valve saterday, drove to work and back with a/c, idle was a bit rougher, but nothing like it was) dropping down to 500 and back).
hate to bring this back up but, did anyone ever find why our cars try to or do stall when the a/c is on?? I would rather not just raise my idle up to compensate. I would love to fix what is causing the problem.
I guess the idle is "rough" because when the a/c is on, the load on the engine changes with the compressor kicking in and out. When you push the a/c button in the car there is an electric clutch on the compressor wheel that engages and disengages when the gases need to be moved. When engaged, load increases and the rpms dip. The ecu should compensate and thats why some cars the rpm go up a little. For our cars it doesnt all the time. I know mine the rpm goes down to like 500 and quick blip on the throttle should rectify it. Dont think there is anything we can do about it, cause i dont think you can tune for when the a/c is on. just my $.02
For almost a year now I don't have ac anymore, mainly because of that reason whenever at a stop light with ac on I would have I play with the gas to keep her from stalling, one day my ac stopped blowing cold air and I took her to the dealer; it was august at that time. The dealer had to order a part, don't remember what part, I never went back because she drives better now with no ac.
All A/C problems can be fixed with a correct tune on the car. I had problems for years and fixed it by setting my B.I.S.S. idle screw and correcting my idle maps. Once that was done I have no issues at all with my A/C!
Take a look at your idle maps and set your B.I.S.S. idle screw by putting the car into SAS mode in EVOScan.

There is a idle control bleeder on the back side of the throttle body. Using a short philips screw driver slowly tune it with the a/c on and off to the point that the RPMs do not suffer too much with the a/c on.
