Reuse Oil?

Was just wondering if I took my oil filter off can I reuse my oil and oil filter. I just changed my oil about 500 miles ago. However I need to take my oil filter off to install my Cusco Type 1. Was wondering if I did reuse it would it have any negative effects?

taking off the filter, you will loose around 1/2 quart of oil.
as long as you dont get it dirty it will be fine.
but why not just add new oil?

You obviously are going to have to put new oil in, otherwise it's going to be a huge mess. And there is no problem with you reusing the oil filter.

Yep, that is fine. There's no problem putting the filter back on....just don't get it contaminated.

Yea I was just seeing if it was possible. I was just tired of having the bar sitting around my room. And I feel like it would be a big waste of oil if I just change it now since its only been about 500 miles. I do have another court of oil around. But the way everybody is saying I might just wait til my next oil change to put on the bar. Thanks everybody for your help.

I did the same thing twice. Had an oil change, 3 days later took off filter to put on the type one. 1 week later had to take off the bar because I was putting in a new clutch. no problems, just cost 1 more quart of oil.
