Emissions?

I know it goes by different states I believe but, those who do aftermarket parts on their cars here in new york, how do u pass emissions every year. Does it come down to pretty much just knowing someone or finding the right people? The thing is now I didn't buy this car myself, yea my parents did. I want to do some after market parts like an exhaust system and so on but they said i can do what i want as long as it passes emissions. So if theres any tricks people may know about im curiuos to know thanks.

Im not sure about NY, but I know with most states it has to pass a visual check and an emissions check where they put you on a dyno or something of the sort and check everything while the car is running. So, you may be able to pass the emissions part, but the visual check is going to be key.

The 10 sec evo kit that costs 16,000 dollars, i can't think of the company that does it. There located in IL. Anyways i asked the guy in charge about it. I Live in PA so i told him about the emissions. He reassured me 100% that i would pass emissions. So if that passes emissions then you should be fine. Only thing that i think would make u fail automatically is a Test pipe, so just get a high flow cat on your TBE.

I'm not 100% sure but in IL they change the format and don't hook up anything to the exhaust anymore, last time I brought in my tahoe they just plugged into the ecu and ran a test and passed. I assume it's going to be the same deal with my evo when the time comes. I hope I pass

As long as the exhaust passes the "sniff test" thing and has a visable catylitic (spelling?) converter then it will pass the full emissions test.
