Evo 7 US Stats And Price
I was at a customer site yesterday in Richmond, CA on Canal St. across from where the new cars come in. It is some holding/loading station for all brands of new cars. They all had the white stickers on the hoods and doors. There was a $hit load of cars there, pretty tight security as well. I had to look through a fence obviously. Found the Mitsubishi section pretty quickly. Montero's, 3G's, Lancers...but no EVO's. I was hoping to see maybe one EVO sitting there in the hundreds of lancers. I figure they have to start trickeling in for US crash and emission testing. Seems like everything that Mitsubishi has so far in the US is the Japanese model. Of course I was thinking it is pretty hard to tell an EVO and a lancer from a distance...so I started looking for the hood vents. Didnt see anything. Of course if we are getting the GT-A...well I wont go there.
There was a pretty blue 3G sitting there...it almost looked good to me for a moment...**** what am I thinking

Damnit! I knew it, this confirms our facts that the GTA is here to stay.
sorry, bad joke. Nice try though. You know that once the EVO comes ashore, just like the WRX, someone will be at the dock with a camera or something and pictures will start floating in.

actually our octane isnt low, Japan just has a different rating system then america so they have higher numbers. you can run 12.5:1 compression on pump gas if you back off the timing so it is possible to run high horsepower numbers on pump gas.

This just in...........Introductary pricing of the EVO:
My CA contact says:The EVO 7 will be under 30,000 and be 260hp with out mods! can I say Street Leagal Race Car!
I can see a few tweeks and 300+ is easily attainable..Goodbye VR4 Hello EVO!

Mr. Mitsu,
There is only one thing we really need to know.....
GSR or GTA will come to the US market?
I understand you can not give out too much information or reveal your sources. Please respond with a simple 'R' for GSR or 'A' for GTA.

actually i believe the 'limiter' that he was talking about was a law or something in japan. cars cannot produce over either 276hp or 280hp (one of the 2 can't remeber). Technically, they cannot, but car manufacturers advertise them at the 'limit' of the law. That's why you see the EVO,STi,Skyline GTR all around the 280hp mark advertised. Put it on a dyno though, it would be a different story.
anyone from europe or japan care to confirm?

As for the price of the Evo 7, if you think it can't compete with the WRX your wrong. Its not suppose to compete with the WRX. If you say STI then thats a different story. But then for 32K US its still cheap and I'm sure heaps of customer will wanna buy one. So you should be quick when, and if it goes on sale in the US especially the good colours. I think you and I know that the Evo is a special car, the Evo need not compete with other cars for sales. When its all gone you will be weeping...guess you have to buy the WRX then. FYI: when I went to ask for an Evol 7 GSR with a sunroof last May it was quoted to me for 3.45 mil Yen on staff discount which I still think is cheap, but I don't have the money so end of story. Regardless if you get it at 32K US its still cheaper then what Aust sold the TKE for, double the Japan Evo prices and all were sold before delivery which was a year later. If you have access to the sale price of other Evo when they were released. The Evo 7 cost cheaper new, why actually I don't know but its a fact.
And if you wondering why I got a staff price, No I don't work for MMC. I work for Melco known worldwide as Mitsubishi Electric Corp. were all part of the Mitsubishi Group family.
So stop *****ing about the price you'll know its worth it when someone who wants it can't have it cos there's no more. Course unless you guys are really getting the GTA which doesn't seem to have a limited quota at the moment even in Japan.

Like Audi, BMW and Mercedes who agreed to limit the cars topspeed to 250 kmh for insurance reasons...

GSR or GTA will come to the US market?
Better to answer with what it will be equipped with:
yes it will have the AWD with 50/50 split diff
yesit will have the brembo brakes
yes it will have AYC
yes it will have a new advanced ABS system
yes it will include Ricarro seats
and HID headlightsand thats enough- would you call that a GSR?
