Sup guys, correct me if im wrong. Someone mentioned that the evo can hit 180 mph cause they experienced it first hand. I called BULLFECIES! I think the most is maybe 163 +/- a few? Before i open my mouth, it cant, no way in hell possibly even get close right?

 

i beleive its 157 and then the rev limiter kicks in..should be able to find it somewhere.....

 

If a evo has the stock rev limit with stock final drive ratio you'd be right. But rev limit and final drive ratio can be changed.

I swear to you that I have taken the car bone stock after I broke it in, to 160 +/- 1 MPH. I even took pictures with my cell phone. I swear to you 160 MPH was right there. I keeped it up there for about 5 miles.... Let me tell you, you fly by cars really fast. Give your self room....

 

170 is highest i've seen in stock, besides the super modded ones.

Best of my knowledge, a stock ECU'd Evo will limit @ 157~ mph. Those flashed can go faster, as the limiter is removed from the ECU.

But, using the happy old theoretical top end configurator...
in top gear:
3500 rpm = 80mph (half of redline) so...
7000 rpm = 160mph ( I knew ratio's would be useful one day!)

I had my speedo up to 168 once. I've got the stock ECU, but I do have slightly smaller diameter tires.

it depends on the humidity, temp, elevation, etc.

and stock redline is off by a bit on the tech, and it's 7300 rpm or so is the redline.

 

i got mine up to 158 then i got scared and slowed down i donno if i could go any faster

 

We need to rent out the local NASCAR speedway for an afternoon and find out. Anyone near Cincinnati interested in a few top end runs at Kentucky Speedway? :-)

 

Rev limiter dosent kick in till around 7500, Ive been to 164 at 7100 w just a cat back, still would have gona a couple more (I even video taped the speedo). There should be a governor, but I havent heard anybody find its limit.

 

There isn't a governor on the evos, Just limited by the gear/rev limit, I've seen one hit 191 mph with the usual bolt ons and HKS final drive gear ratios. The STIs are governed don't know at what exactly, a little bit higher than the evo.
