alright, i just hapen to have some buddies with 04 cobras lol. one of them only has an off road x pipe and cat back. the other one has ported blower, pully, headers, uper plentum, throtle body, heat exchanger, diablo tunner, over sized exchanger resivor, 3" off road x, 3" cat back. the one with only exuahst is a real good run for my evo from a roll (my mods 3"tbe, hallman mbc @20psi, safcII, 255lph fuel pump, 3" hard pipe with filter, wide band o2, 780cc injectors). he will usualy pull away just about a car at the end of 4th. the other one is no contest. he leaves me like im standing still, all i see is the *** end of his car as soon as he hits the gas, and i dont even see that for long lol.now from a dig i kill the lightly moded one and can take the beast into second, then all i hear is a monster go flying by me. my 272 cams and head studs go in on the 5th of aug at rre, that sould give me an edge over the the first one but i have no desire to spend another 12k on my car to take the second .

A great example of that is Broke7's car vs Chris's EVO a 5K modded cobra vs a 20K modded EVO very close, but the EVO won in the end. The track was a different story.

OT:OFFTOPIC OFFTOPIC OFFTOPIC

At any point his motor could go there goes another 5K for a motor. If your a anti nitrous guy like many are you can slap on another 3-4k for a Blower and you still may not be ahead of a car like Chris's unless your running 22-23lbs of boost with a great tune. In the end you still might need a 50 shot or cams which is more money.

If your goals are low 11's@120+ cobra's, vette's, etc are much cheaper to get there. If your goals are low 10's @135mph+ with a emphasis on the 135mph+ it can be pretty close in cost depending which route you go. Even though drivability and the pump gas make the larger displacement cars much more appealing to most.

That's the thing with the 03 cobra motors, they are built super strong I believe they can handle up to 800rwhp before pushing the limit to where the motor can blow.

I don't know... ( sorry to resort to a street story here)

I encontered a cobra outside of town (had aftermarket tires, bigger on the rear, I think a custom exhaust, looked serious anyway),

we had a straight shot at open road, cleared traffic both doing 70-ish. He pulled up beside me, and I heard his SC go off and he pulled ahead, so I obliged. We had slowed enough to where I downshifted to 3rd and got a good pop, then in 4th I began to pull ahead, by 5th I was waving good bye at him in my mirror, and had to bring myself back to realty, slowed way down.

May be he was afraid of the speed, or something else. But he caught up and pointed at the Evo, shook his head, smiled, then thummed up , and drove ahead.

No BS just the way it happened, May be the next one will be different.

At the time I had:
Xede - the tune was pretty good, probably not the best though.
272/264 HKS (yeah, I know backwards, I'm still experimenting)
cam gears @ -3
Stock air box - K&N drop in
boost at 24 (since lowered to 22)
Greddy Type S (to stop the leaking factory diverter)
RMR 3" DP and C-back (Cat was stock at the time)
93 oct

I got surprised by a Z-28 at highway speeds the other day, but then again, I guess that's my fault. I momentarily forgot how much HP those things can pack. But I am back to stock cams and gears right now, add an AMS lower IC, Stock ECU, same RMR Exhaust plus Hghflow Cat. . . . so I was down in power quite a bit,

The Carmero said he was stock, I don't know enough about the factory options available on that car and the exhaust looked aftermarket, don't really know.

What ever happened with the guy who started this thread?

It has independent suspension just like our cars. You need to sit back and realize the EVO isn't Gods gift to mankind. Modern technology? Sit back and think how long the 4G63 has been around and get back to me retard....
LETS SEE.....THE FOX BODY/CHASSIS THE 03 COBRA USES WAS ORIGINALLY DEVELOPED FOR THE 1978 FOR MUSTANG. FORD USED THE FOX BODY FOR THE FAIRMONT, MUSTANG , CAPRI AND SO ON. FORD'S LIVE AXLE TECHNOLOGY DATES BACK TO THE 50'S. THE NEW 2005 FOR MUSTANG STILL!! USES THE SAME LIVE AXLE.

THE DESPERATE ATTEMPT TO FORCE THE MUSTANG 03 COBRA TO SOMEWHAT HANDLE AND NOT TO GO OFF THE ROAD WHILE TAKING A CORNER, WAS TO FIT A REAR INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION SYSTEM ON A CAR BODY/CHASSIS THAT WAS DESIGNED IN THE LATE 70'S.....

BTW, I HAVE SOME 1979 FORD MUSTANG SUSPENSION PARTS THAT WILL FIT IN YOUR COBRA...IT'S TRUE

FORD IMPLEMENTED THE CHANGE IN 2001 WHICH RESULTED IN LOTS OF RECALLS AND MECHANICAL FAILURES.....(I GUESS THEIR QUADRA SHOCK FIX DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM)

THE COBRA STILL HANDLES LIKE CRAP BECAUSE ITS BUILT AROUND 50'S AND 70'S TECHNOLOGY WITH SOME DESPERATE ATTEMPTS OF IMPROVEMENT.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THE MUSTANG IS NOT EVOLVING LIKE THE EVO, ITS SIMPLY BEING REPACKAGED AND SOLD UNDER A LABEL OF THE OLD MUSTANG.(1968.70)

THE MUSTANG WILL NEVER EVER BE IN THE SAME CATEGORY AS THE EVO SIMPLY BECAUSE YOU CANT MAKE UP 30 YEARS OF AUTO EVOLUTION IN ONE OR TWO FRONT FENDER REDESIGNS OR PAINT JOBS....GOOD LUCK

i WOULD LIKE TO SEE YOUR DYNO SHEET WITH THE CLAIMED 390WHP STOCK.....I KNOW A LOT OF COBRA OWNERS AND THE MOST THEY SEE IS 330WHP.

how would i compare to a SS camaro, Z28 02-04 from a 40 roll and against a pontiac GTO from a stop and roll, and also a Z06. I tend to get races with a lot of these cars esp the SS, Z28 and Corvette not z06 tho

It would be a a drivers race for all of them IMO. I've seen stock SS's trap 104-107mph....most aren't stock though.

Ls1 based car's are no joke especially the automatic equipped ones from a dig and the M6 ones from a roll. I work with a guy that has no more than 4k in his car and run's 10.50's@132mph....on DR's.

WS-6, 150 shot, 3200rpm stall, Y pipe, lid, Tr224 cam, ported heads, and a fuel pump that's it and a Ls1edit tune......fast as hell.

Just a 150 shot on a GTO or SS will run mid to high 11's @120mph for under 1K.

Stock '01 and '02 LS1's dyno 310 at the wheels, with some factory freaks dynoing 330 whp.

'03 Cobras are grossly underated and dyno at 350-375 whp stock. thats far over 400 at the crank. get a clue.
