different tranny question

i got really bored one day and thought of a project to do but 1st i gotta get everything straightened out to see if this will work or if its jus a dream. anyways i was wanting to use an evo engine. but the car im wanting to use is FWD and dont wanna have to do abunch of body fabricating.so ive done a few post here and there and i heard that the late eclipse model has a FWD tranny that i could use with the evo engine. and i was wanting to kno if it was true or not. thanks for the help i would be greatly appreciated

the evo engine is 180 from the other 4g63's and form the "late model eclipses" as well I believe. It will be tough and a lot of money/work. Anyone can do anything with time and money. youd be better off buying a turbo kit and buildin a stout block out of your current engine.

+1

anything can be done if you have the right amount of money. there is a civic hatch that has transplanted the whole evo engine into it leaving it fwd i believe also. don't quote me on that one. i will post pics of it if the file isn't too large. well good luck with whichever path you take.

the v6 eclipse's and evo's face the same direction. and i believe they also share the same bell housing bolt pattern.

i put a GSR engine in a 91 CRX not sure if the older is the same size but it might work. they are similar in size. might be a little tight with turbo and radiator.

Just use a damn DSM 4G63 if must. No real point in paying all the extra money for an Evo engine if you've got to do the fabricating in the first place. Mike Simon already did a 4G63 CRX, but it was RWD.
