100/tire for high performance Nitto 555r drag radials? I think not...Originally Posted by jxn evo 8
Yeah. But I do know the owner of a local shop. He must have given me a deal. I think I have seen them online for around 100 bucks. I might be wrong though. If I can find the site I will post it for you

yeah, I couldn't find a deal like that online anywhere. I think I paid closer to 150 mounted and balanced per tire.

You will never get those tires on the car for that price.
I have them on mine. Hard still getting traction out of the hole. But with 40lbs of boost its hard to find a good tire anyway.
Chris go with the 555's. They are great tires.
Just don't go fast thru any puddles...lol

I have always liked the BFGoodrich line-up of tires. I now have the KDW2's on heavy 19" wheels and managed a few 1.6 60" times last at the track. This is an amazing all around tire, it handles most conditions very well and is priced fairly.

R-comps actually make really crappy drag tires. They handle so well because they have really stiff sidewalls. That's the opposite of what you want in a drag tire.Originally Posted by whiteevo311

Off topic but im surprised you havent blown your transfer case with those launches and that 6 puckOriginally Posted by Ivan_C
Running Kumho Esta MX's, deflated to 27/26, at the track. Nice burnout to get them hot and they stick like a mother. Consistent 1.61's, I'm working on 1.5's now, got one so far 1.57. If I don't deflate them and do a burnout, I roast them for the first 60'. Times are then 1.68-1.7's. This is with ACT 6 puck and 7k+ launches.

I've upgraded to the Quaife lsd. I don't think the shock is that high since I don't have launch control. I'm only leaving the line with 9-11psi boost. I've thought about sitting it up on the rev limiter and launch, but I know I'll just roast the tires launching at 15-16psi. Anything less then around 6000 - 6500 and it bogs. The sweet spot seems to be right around 6800-6900, but I normally try to hit just over 7. The drivetrain is stronger then everyone gives it credit, just get rid of the factory front diff. I've got at least 40 lauches that exact style on the 6 puck, plus another 40+ on the ACT street disk, and 40+ on the stock clutch.(though a little lower rpm on the stock clutch, but with the stock diff). Ok back on topic
I'll update my post from earlier, this weekend I had to air the tires back up to one over stock, because of the heat, 97+. The track was too sticky to keep them deflated. So it comes back to, setting tire pressure based off of track condition and temp.
I'd say if your making under 400lbs torque, stock tires or something comparable will work fine. Set the pressures depending on track condition and temp. Find a comfortable launching style (Warrtalon and I have completely different ones, both work great though). Most of all it's just practice, at getting good 60' times. You want enough give so as not to break something, on the other hand too much and you mess up your 1-2 shift.
