that sux. yes you removed the clear. no there is no way to put it back. wax is temporary but helpful. in the long run it will need to be re-cleared.

I would suggest using the Meguairs step process to help bring back the shine. Clean, polish then wax.

For future reference, 3M makes a bug & tar remover that won't take your paint off, and there is always that stuff in a spray-can that can be found at most auto stores. Acetone is paint remover...and it looks like it's good at its job...

Yeah, if you want to really screw up your paint job, try methylene chloride.

In all seriousness, mineral spirits work well at removing bugs, tar and tree resin and isn't too harsh on the paint. Prolly the worse it'll do is remove the wax.

Dichloromethane is an excellent paint remover, except it has pretty high vapor pressure.....got to add some gelling compound like fumed silica/styrofoam to make it stay around for it to work.

Also if you drink decaffeinated coffee, MeCl is the solvent for extracting the caffein
