the RHD evo V was a guy named leo. he comes and hangs out with us evo-ny guys every so often. i had the opportunity of being in the car for a run and its just insane. i am not sure on his fastest run but he ran a 11.5 on his last one.

nice to finally meet AL on the way home at burger king. we were the evo-ny guys u were talkin with..

That Evo V was one nice car. Unfortunately for him he was on the stock block after he had troubles earlier in the week. He still put up a great race against the Subie.

He nailed an 11.0 on the very first try for that day and for that motor, in fact! I had a good time talking to him in the staging lanes before the first qualifying round. Little did I know he was going to be cutting 11.0s, haha. I am proud to say I helped him out by sharing my nice tire gauge!

No there was a conversion there. This was a bonifide Evo 5
I also talked to him in the pits briefly before the quick 8 eliminations started.

Funny, some of the parts are still the same like door switches.

Yeah that's a Mirage conversion but there was also a real V there. Both are awesome. The guy with the conversion came up with us from MD, it has a complete Evo drivetrain (AWD system, wheels, brakes) with a stock Evo V motor and some other mix and match Evo parts. He's still working on the body but I was totally impressed with the amount of work he had done to it. It should haul *** when it's done.

I wasn't trying to knock you or anything but it just seemed like every chance I got to leave the autox and watch the drags something was going wrong with every run I watched..I've never seen so many 15 second 300hp awd cars in my life.. Congrats on the 9.92 pass, you guys work hard at it and it is well deserved. The only point I am trying to really make is that you can tune a car all week on the dyno, take it to the track and break it or run terrible times at the track, but nothing can prepare the car/driver better then racing in real world conditions..Just want to send my congrats to everyone who participated in the event..

I tried shifting the car out at a higher RPMs but the shift light wasent working and the factory tach is WAY too slow. I was trying to shift at what I thought was 9k but by the time I knew it the car was smacking rev limiter at 9600. I missed 2nd and 4th on that run, which was against that bad *** RHD Evo V.

The 1st elimination run was against a black STI. I cut a better 60' than the record pass but the car overboosted after I shifted to 4th right as it was going thru the 1/8th mile speed trap. With a big turbo, its game over once your out of boost. That run was definatly on par to another 9.8-9.9.

The 2nd elimination run was against Al. I just made a mistake and bogged the car. Noone to blame but myself on that one. Getting a upper 700 whp car to leave good on drag radials is tricky to say the least. Especially on crappy 2 year old 245/17" Nittos we had laying around.

Saturday was the first time Ive ever driven the car except for the dozen or so highway pulls we did on the video. I did some more clutch adjustments to it today and we'll be throwing the hoosiers back on and going to the track this week.

Next time...
We're going to be able to fix everything this week. Hopefully we'll get it on the dyno sometime in the next 4 or 5 days. I was really disappointed about the head gasket but we pushed the tuning a little too far on the street. We really didn't have enough time to prepare properly and got overly aggressive. Oh well, it happens.

The goods news is how well the system does work. We were making 35psi of boost at 4300 rpms!!! That's on a huge Holsett HX50 turbo. Max boost was hitting 38 psi, and the head gasket went once we shot for 40psi. I can't wait to see how much power we're making.

Hopefully, I'll have time for a few 1/4 runs next week out East before the car heads back to Colorado altitude.

Congratulations to everyone on some amazing times.
