thinking about custom exhaust
thinking about custom exhaust
I am thinking about buying a custom cat-back exhaust. What exactly should I ask for? I was thinking 3 inch as straight as possible. If I am making it custom are there any special requests I should make? I want to be sure I am getting the best sort of cat back for my 03 EVO.
To me, a custom exhaust seems like a waste of money. Alot of manufacturers, like AMS, have full 3 inch exhaust and have done all the testing and research already. Unless you need a custom set up for some reason, you're just reinventing the wheel.

It is a turbo car..... The less bends the better. The bigger the better. The less resonators the better the shorter the overall length the better.
In other words a short straight pipe would be ideal. They make some little 4" muffler somewhere that a guy used with a side exhaust. Go full 3" with a flex section on the down pipe. Use a bracket to bolt to the tranny to keep it located in the tunnel. Then go straight back and just kick it out by the back axle and bend the tip back straight to come out the bumper cut and make the tip stick out about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch so you dont burn the paint (or get a SS or CF heat shield for the bumper). Stick one of those 4" mufflers where ever you can, if you even want one.
But that would also be a$$ loud!! ! ! and not exactly emissions friendly. If you are worried about either of those things get a manufactured exhaust from one of the big boys. Check on here for sound clips and compare.
