I'm interested in buying/installing a shift light, but I don't know jack **** about them. Can someone give me an overview as to the different types, brands, etc.

umm just get an Autometer one...they work fine, dont get one with a pill kit though because they arent as easily changeable/functional as one with a dial.

so yea id just go with an autometer one, they have a really small one like the diameter of a pen that you can insert just about anywhere in your dash for a cleaner look...it will run you like 50-75$ new.

 

If I had the extra money I would buy this one..

i use my HKS Turbo Timer Type 1(black) as a shift light. the only bad thing is that it isn't exactly accurate. it reads in increments of 10 instead of 1 ex. 1000 1010 1020... But it works for me

 

I got this one from autometer.

 

Raptor make some really nice shift lights, small and uses 6 led's to let you kow when it's time.
