Any kind, you will need to splice the wires for your tach, power and ground. It should come with installation instructions, all you will need after that is a wire schematic.

This is the one I'm using. Took my friend and me about an hour to install.

Do you set at which RPMs the light goes on or is it based on getting the most power out of the gear before shifting?

Now that i think of it i need to get one. Sometimes, actaully alot of the times ill get so into that race that i wont pay attention to my tach, yeah i know, all i got to do is watch, but i get a big kick outa racing.

Edit : Hitting the fuel cut isnt that good to do all the time.

I should also pick one up soon.

Could I suggest that a buzzer is far better than a shift light. I have a high strength buzzer that can pierce even through the noise of the car and my helmet when on the track. With no need to watch the dash, and only need to listen for the buzzer, it is a far more practical way to ensure shifting is done at the right time and your eyes can remain on the track.
