Do a search for "roll cages". A couple of the threads talked about brand names and such. Good info in a couple of them.

if you want a legal rollcage you have to have a harness bar. also if you really need one you wouldn't care about back seats.

I had the same requirements, until everyone on the planet told me that putting passengers in the back with a roll bar is asking for trouble. After all, if you get into an accident, there's a nice bar there for them to smack with their heads... so I'm going to have TC Designs weld plates to the frame so that I can move the roll bar in an out if necessary... no bars for daily driving, only for the track.

I did not think that one was legal.

From several posts I've read in the past, the Cusco cage is show only, and is not approved for use on the track.

True. First of all, the Cusco cage is designed for RHD cars...that means it's triangulated on the wrong side (protects the passenger rather than the driver!). Also, the front stays have those ridiculous S-curves to clear the dash. Taken together, these 2 factors mean no respectable organization or race sanctioning body would allow you to set foot on a track with that abomination.

There's no such thing. Any rollbar or cage will render the rear seats unsafe for passengers. And, like I mentioned in the other rollcage thread, your insurance company MAY be able to use the cage as an excuse to refuse to pay-put in the event of an accident. This is happening more and more in Canada. From what I hear, it may soon become a problem in the US as well.

Bolt-in cages an rollbars are generally pretty low quality. Once you factor in shipping, painting, and installation costs (you want them welded in...not bolted in) the cost ends up being the same as a decent custom cage.

Go to your local race shop and get a custom job. You'll want the cage to be fitted not only to the car, but also to the driver. For example, the height of the harness bar relative to your shoulders is critical in high-speed impacts.

So, figure out what kind of racing you plan to do. Get a copy of the rule book for the sanctioning body. Then find a builder to fit you a custom cage that fits you and meets the regs for your race series. That's the only sensible way to go.
