To each his own. i don't like sitting in my caridle for 5+ minutes or going inside and then running back outside to turn it off in a few minutes. It does save the turbo, i've seen tons of gummed up turbos from not being cooled. I like being able to turn on my timer and forget about it and not worrying that someone could steal my car. Its more or less a piece of mind or even a luxury item imo.

i agree that a boost gauge is a great first mod. it impresses the ladies also. also if you are using boost control, a A/F meter and/ or gauge is a good idea. A/F ratios give you good insight on whats going on in your engine and how boost is affecting it.

Basic mods in order:

TBE-make sure its 3" all the way back. Megan and Buschur make very popular choices
Drop in air filter K&N, works etc.
Boost guage
Hallman MBC
ECU reflash

That will get you going in the right direction. Search is your friend.

first thing is to read and decide where you want to go with your car in the long run. Then talk to quality vendors on here (Vishnu, Dyno4mance, AMS, Dynoflash, ...) and follow their upgrade path.

You don't need an intake, you don't need a drop in filter, you might not need a MBC if you get a piggyback that controlls boost.

SilverEvo8, here are your lessons:

1) Always, ALWAYS search first. You cannot imagine how many times this question has been asked. There is nothing more annoying than someone asking the same question that has been answered literally 1000 times. If you would have searched, you would already know that your current list of mods is not preferred.

2) Unless your money grows on trees, don't immediately pick out all the big brand name mods that are shiny and sound cool. For $1000, you could have your car at 300whp and running mid-12s with good driving. You could also spend $1000 and be slower than stock, depending on the route you choose.

3) As has already been stated, you by no means need a turbo timer. Again, there's gotta be somebody or something somewhere that is telling our noobs they need these things before they buy their Evo...I can't think of any explanation for the rampant ignorance (not a slam, just an observation).

4) Retain the stock intake. You don't need an aftermarket one, because the stock one works great and is not much of a restriction. At most, get a drop-in filter (Works or K&N). Yeah, the sound of an intake is cool to some, but I prefer actual power and driveability over sound and bling when spending my money.

5) DO NOT GET A VTA BOV. Again, no freakin clue why people think this is the way to go, but please don't fall into that trap. It costs way more than the JDM MR DV and will hurt your driveability. Our MAF setup is not designed to VTA.
I 2nd that! Every ricer buys an EVO and first mod they think they need is a VTA BOV and an intake to make it sound even louder. They should just go buy a SRT4 if they like the sound so much.

I have the TURBOXS RFL turbo back exhaust on my STi. I love it! The design, fit and finish are great. It sounds mean. i get compliments from import and domestic car guys alike. This weekend an older guy with a built 70 Charger R/T told me my STi sounds like an import muscle car.

I don't know anyone personally with the TURBOXS TBE for the Evo. I had a Buschur TBE on my 03. But i have seen pics of it and heard sound clips of it. It sounds clean. Based on the experience I have had with TurboXS i would put money on it being a quality piece with respectable performance numbers. find some one on here who has it... do a search

Turbo timer is a waste of money, why tear into your car for this useless evo mod. As long as your not under boost several minutes b4 u turn the car off you'll be fine.

This order:

Forge MBC: $80
Remove Cat
Intake and get a mail in flash
Walbro Fuel pump
Cams
Reflash
Now upgrade your exhaust (catback DP)

Save up, Do it all at once, then get a custom tune(best way)

Then alky, then turbo, then IC, AEMEMS, etc, etc

Gosh FL Silverevo8, your off to a really bad start, you already got half the forum to hate you... If I were you I would just give your car away,,, to me my wife could use it.

she wouldn't put a BOV on it.

Lettlng the car slt and ldle lsn't needed elther. That's my polnt. By the tlme you slow down to pull lnto a parklng lot/drlveway/whatever and pull lnto your parklng space, gather your thlngs and turn off the car, you've glven the car/turbo plenty of cool down tlme. lt's better for lt to cool down whlle movlng as opposed to ldle anyway. Unless you powersllde lnto the parklng space you should be flne.

l wlll admlt lt looks cool, ls nlce to start your car and let lt warm up wlthout the key ln lt on a cold mornlng, but that's about lt. Llke you sald, luxury ltem.

Well i'm pretty new as well, I believe the route I will be going is in this order.

1.) Helix Cat back - ordered today actually
2.) Test Pipe- undecided as of brand atm
3.) Downpipe- undecided as of brand atm
4.) K&N or Works Drop in filter
5.) APS BOV

I may reflash after that, and once i'm tired of this setup i'll be looking for even more mods. But for a owner on a budget.

Honda mentality. Everyones first "mod" is a silly cold air intake on their Civic DX.
