You really dont need a turbo timer. It is more of a convenience, you could just let your car idle and then turn it off. For the first mod an exhaust would be good. There are many threads on exhaust reviews, so a search would help.

+1. That's the first thing I did and it got me 25whp without tuning.

After that, boost control and flash/tuning and you'll be as fast as most cars on the road, at least up to 70-80mph...

the first thing i was gone to do was the intake,BOV,and a manul boost controler. then my turbo back exhust. how is this for parts:
intake- InJen w/ hard pipe
BOV-HKS super sequential (with that kind of bov i know i need a hks eid. b/c of the maf senor)
for tubo back exhust i was thinking Invidia. how do you all like my lil list? is that a good start off point?
thanks

I'd go with a turbo back exhaust, intake, and ecu upgrade.

turbo timer is a waste of money. first mod should be a boost gauge. exhaust is a good first power mod, but you need a couple other things first, IMHO

You dont need the intake either, the stock air box is good enough for now, just get a drop in filter....

lose the BOV and intake. Neither has any performance gains on a MAF controlled engine. add a Works intake filter for the stock cai. it has more surface area than the K&N. the stock intake will support 400+ hp.

people will tell you a VTA BOV is rice, i tend to agree unless you are running high psi and stand alone ems. get the steel JDM MR BOV.

invidia is a nice cbe. but the buschur turbo back is lighter than the invidia cat back. and not that much more $$$.

do a search

my $.02

Please tell me where you (and every other noob) gets the idea that they should start with an Injen intake and HKS SSQV. There has to be something somewhere that is causing almost every noob to come in and immediately turn to those 2 mods first. If it's not the HKS SSQV, it's the Greddy Type S, but the same sentiment applies.

SilverEvo8, here are your lessons:

1) Always, ALWAYS search first. You cannot imagine how many times this question has been asked. There is nothing more annoying than someone asking the same question that has been answered literally 1000 times. If you would have searched, you would already know that your current list of mods is not preferred.

2) Unless your money grows on trees, don't immediately pick out all the big brand name mods that are shiny and sound cool. For $1000, you could have your car at 300whp and running mid-12s with good driving. You could also spend $1000 and be slower than stock, depending on the route you choose.

3) As has already been stated, you by no means need a turbo timer. Again, there's gotta be somebody or something somewhere that is telling our noobs they need these things before they buy their Evo...I can't think of any explanation for the rampant ignorance (not a slam, just an observation).

4) Retain the stock intake. You don't need an aftermarket one, because the stock one works great and is not much of a restriction. At most, get a drop-in filter (Works or K&N). Yeah, the sound of an intake is cool to some, but I prefer actual power and driveability over sound and bling when spending my money.

5) DO NOT GET A VTA BOV. Again, no freakin clue why people think this is the way to go, but please don't fall into that trap. It costs way more than the JDM MR DV and will hurt your driveability. Our MAF setup is not designed to VTA.

Search this has been cover many time before ...
1st thing you need to do is properly break-in the car. Then get a Turbo Back Exhaust, if you want to void your engine and powertrain warranty or get a catback if you want to keep your warranty. Intake is a waste of money, this is not a Honda! A drop in filter should do fine and is warranty friendly. Reflash is also a great mod but voids the warranty ...
TBE, air filter and reflash are the best mods you can do to the car for the money (Best bang for buck)...
