yes i've seen several mitsubishi turbos (WRXs and Evos) with gummed up turbos. Not everyone on here posts bullsh!t just to feel special, noob. Some people here have real world experience with motors/turbos. I'm impressed that you know the type of turbo the Evo has... but have you ever pulled one apart? That's maybe why its a new one to you.

BTW just to save you a post, yes, mitsubishi makes the turbo for the WRX.

Then if you still want to add mods. Before you buy anything go to the track and time your car (and yourself). You may also want to dyno your evo but that wont tell you how fast YOu and your car will be when you dance together.

First mod should be to improve your stopping range and second should be in protecting your turbo.

Always document your mods. Don't waste $$$ on BOV untill you have changed a few other parts. Forget the intakes unless you have a good tuner. Search this site. read. but dont forget to just be happy driving your car.

Warning: When you start to modify, expect some problems that may have you wondering where your loved car is gone.
Spoken like a gentleman..and to add to that..the EVO is a bad *** car from the factory so unless you plan on making your car a super fast track car..spice it up with a CatBack with 3" piping and a drop in filter for some noise and increased airflow..I am prob going to also get a ECU flash from vishnu.. 30+ HP claimed..any bad experiences with the flash?

First of all... ITS YOUR CAR, do what you want to it. dont let people tell you what to get on your own car.

These are my sugestions : exhaust (whatever brand you want), Intake, JDM MR DV or forge rs BOV, hallman or forge UNOS MBC, LICP, And a tune of your choice (mail in is the most convenient).... or just look at Warrtalons sig and click on the link.

Enjoy your new EVO

definetly get a turbo timer, it extends the life of the motor. after that id say Turbo back exhaust and maybe a filter of somesort.

Come on, man, not it doesn't. A turbo timer has nothing to do with the motor. It also doesn't help the turbo unless you go WOT into your parking spot everyday.

my opinion dont get the HKS BOV just go with a stockIX/JDM MR BOV or even the new Forge RS BOV.Also you other parts are good but you forgot the main one tuning. I can't stress it enough. Without tuning you run the risk of Boost spikes and always hitting fuel cut. Plus if your willing to spend money on the HKS BOV and HKS eid and map sensor you would pay more for all of that than tuning.
Good luck I can tell you most of us have been gun happy with mods and learned the hard way what works and what doesn't. Best of luck

Normally I agree with your comments but your wrong on this one. A turbo timer allows the water and oil to circulate in the turbo to cool off the bearings and oil, this in turn will keep any oil from baking on your bearings and causing build up which over the long haul can lead to bearing failure and result in either a rebuild or buying a new turbo.

But it's not needed on our turbo unless you go WOT boosting into your parking everyday like I just said. The stuff you said is basic and does not require a turbo timer. Sitting at idle is not as good as cruising at low speed out of boost for the last few minutes. The turbo timer is not need on our water-and-oil-cooled turbos. These were only necessary on older turbos.
