Mounting the Intercooler somewhere else?
Well if we wanted to make a custom hood so we can LOSE power, Im sure someone would have tried it, but since mounting an intercooler on top of the hot engine is the worst place possible, Im 100% sure it has not been tried and will not be tried.
The front of the car is the absolute best place for the intercooler.

why would you want to? it would probably cost more then getting an upgraded fmic and you would lose performance. If you really wanted to get rid of the frount mount you would be better off going with a custom air to water setup.

what are you goals for mounting it elsewhere? Trying to go all stealth? B/c honestly people that know about our kinds of cars know the IC is supposed to be there and if they don't see it they will assume something is up so it wouldn't be of much use to hide it...
The hood idea is bad, but i've thought of trying to do a front mount intercooler and side mount intercooler combo like the Dahlbaks VW golf. Anybody seen what i'm talking about?

wait, I've seen many intercoolers mounted within engines that's like parallel to the ground with no hood vents to direct air flow to it...so it's water-air cooled then?
if it is, then that's awesome...I've seen it on almost all the D1/Forumula D cars...like this car http://www.signalauto.co.jp/4_28DRIFTSPEC.html
