EVO GT-A, Preview of the US EVO?

I think we will be seeing a lot of features from this car in the US spec EVO. Check out the new front bumper, seats and wing options.

So... is this another Evo VII model that will be available in Japan?
Or is this for the European/British market?
I assume it's for Japan since in the specifications it's listed as being submitted to the Japan Ministry of Land, etc.
I really hope the US doesn't get this version... it's like the family version of the Evo VII or something.

I hope not also. I really want the EVOs I've seen in Japan. But the US will get an automatic. I think we will see some of the items on the GT-A in the US as options or packages.

Some things on the GT-A I like:

Reinforced strut tower rings
The rear CV joint to replace the universal
the gauge package looks alright.

I do not like:
The scoopless hood
the seats give us the standard EVO VII JDM sports seats please
the leather option
the revised suspension tuning
the lower power
the Automatic
the smaller wing
the Smaller turbo
the increased weight

It says the optional Recaros (which appear to be different than the ones in the GSR) have 4 point seatbelts. Sweet.

Unhappy Re: EVO GT-A, Preview of the US EVO?

This is a plausible effort to make the EVO 7 more luxurious, but I agree- about the automatic transmission :soapbox:!!!

When I get my Evo 7 in the U.S., as long as it has a/c, cruise control (ok, call me weak), rear def, and the power basics (locks/windows/mirrors) I'm happy. Stereo, I already have that planned out... This car is about power and handling, let's hope this doesn't start a trend.

If we got this same detuned Evo WITH a smaller intercooler, those pesky WRX's might be smoking us at the lights? no

HID's, tho

my $.02 (adjusted for inflation)

This is Stupid the evo isnt a luxury car, i dont see why they are putting leather options and this smaller wing crap and a automatic trany, if u dont like the racing seats and the wing then you shouldnt buy the car at all. they need to leave the car how it is and just bring it to the u.s. already!!!!

I wouldnt worry about it. There have been NO indications that this is the model we will be getting. This is first post that I have heard anything about this.

So, let this one roll off your back and keep your eyes on the prize!

Hey dont' worry the automatic has 5 speeds! I'd bet we get those nice leather seats! Heated please?

Naw, i change my mind. I'll go with the recario rally seats, fully load with the manual trans.

Sales are the key to us KEEPING the Evo once we get it. The last batch of jaanese sports cars tanked because of one thing. Low sales. If Mitsu wants to offer a "civilized" Evo, let them. So long as they offer the OPTION of the adjustable wing, Recaros and other things, who cares if there's a slushbox, leather seated version? I hope they sell a million of them

I think that is people want automatic and leather than they should just get a Galant. However I wouldnt mind if the EVO 7 was available with the Sportronic automatic, like the one on the Eclipse. But I still want a 5spd.!!!

KEEP YOUR HOPES UP!

cars on the market dont NEED to have an automatic as an option. cars that are designed to be for "performance" mainly. the civic si's and integra type r's for example dont have an automatic option. \
