when sti's come to my work place (auto auction) they are normally disconnected!
looks like a repo in session
thats how they take them to me.
seems like EVO owners pay their bills because we havent had on in 8 mths, while we get 2+ sti's every mth

If the ACD was not engaged (hydraulically actuated clutch pack, not viscous coupler as the 2004-2003) assuming when the power was off the front wheels would not be locked to the rear, this could work.
I'm not saying I'd buy the car or that its ok or I completely understand the EVO tranny. There could still be issues with heat build-up and others.
In theory, this is what occurs 95% of the time (ACD not engaged): your front wheels are driving the car, the rears just follow.

Your right, they HAD to unbolt the driveshaft to even get this thing to move. If they just strapped the front wheels in and started pulling it, the back tires would not spin and the car would hop along the road. I'm sure they just unbolted the rear driveshaft from the rear diff and tied it up there.. c'mon now..
