Unfortunately unless we have a time machine or a scalpel we can't make you a better driver, the only thing that can do that is age and experience. If you want a "fast" car consider a ralliart, its 162 hp which more than enough for a young driver who is learning how to drive stick. Its also FWD, which is perfect for a learner.

Go with a decently powered fwd car. I would look into the integra's, rsx, etc. An evo is a car in which an inexperienced driver can get into some very scary situations.

I can remember when I get my first car (even though it has a 150hp) I drove the **** out of it, and I have done some pretty dumb things in the younger years. I can't imagine what would have happened if I actually had a car that would move.

I think you should just worry about which ever car is going to make you the coolest! Who cares about all the other bs anyway right! No need to justify anything... only old people need to worry about that.

I think an RSX, RSX-S or perhaps the new Si would be excellent starters. These cars are sporty, FWD and definitely quick enough/fun enough for a 16 year old. As a father, I would not be putting my inexperienced 16 yr old in one of the cars you mentioned. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

First you gotta decide between AWD and RWD

And if you want a car thats been around for 3 years (350z) or the evo or sti that has been around for almost a decade with rally proven race design and reliability pick either of those......

Im 19....learned stick on a Hyundai accent then drove a Tacoma 4x4 then a Honda Accord 5 speed now the Evo and I consider myself a really good driver.

In my opinion a 4x4 is a great way to start because it is RWD and you'll be able to learn the physics of oversteer on dirt at your local pits.

For the sake of the Evo it should not be your first car!!

16? No evo for you.

Start of with a lancer ralliart for a couple years, then upgrade to the evo.

Thats what I did.

your on an evo forum.....majority of the people will say EVO. i have an 05 evo...i test drove all three of them. i like the way the evo handle and accels. besides its been my dream car for the past 5 years. i think i just test drove the others to make my parents fell better bout me not just making a decison before i saw what else was out there.

go test drive each car.....you live in texas so snow really wont be an issue for you if you get the 350. but just the car that feels best for you!!! redundent i know

This thread is funny as hell.

Ok... kid... listen to me. I'll try to be as helpful as possible. 350Z is not the car for you. Why? Lots of HP and RWD. Not a good starter car. I've seen plenty of 16 year old kids try and launch this car, have the back end slide everywhere and go into a pole or ditch.

STI or EVO. Same car essentially, except that the 06 STI looks like an abused step-child of a renault. So just for looks and the fact that it won't get you laid, throw the STI out. And still for 16 I would say the EVO isn't the right way to go. Too hard of a car to learn on. It just is and that's a fact.

My suggestion, and this is from out in left field. John Coopers Works Edition Mini Cooper (About $30,000 when all is said and done). Car weighs about 800lbs. less than an EVO. Has about 70 less HP. It's a very easy to drive manual. So what do you get? You get a Mini that can beat the pants off of most things on the road, and a car that is very easy to drive as a daily driver. For those reasons: PERFECT LEARNING CAR.

Peace

lol... wow... spoiled is right, I remember my first car and I had to work my a$$ for it even tho it was a Civic EX..

it didn't really matter tho, I loved it being 17 and having a car.. i still got laid!

21 is a great age to have an Evo Just turned 21., I would wait a couple years before buying an Evo it's not a beginner car, stock was fine for me but when you start modding it, it's a different ball game.

Get some driving experience first. You're only 16. If anything your first car should be a beater/cheap car so you can accustom yourself to shifting and knowing when to upshift/downshift, etc. It's actually better to start from the bottom up, rather from starting from top down. Again, you're 16. You'll probably get hated on at school. An EVO isn't cheap to repair either. By "helping" you not mess it up is really to get driving experience. This is just based my opinion and personal experience and i'm 22. So i've been in your situation before. I'm glad I had my beater car back in HS.

Start out with a 1st gen dsm to get you feet wet in the tuning business, but do your research so that you end up not being left somewhere with a un reliable car. When you get older and all you careless driving out of the way then hunt a evo down.

Wizeguy9999 is correct. John Coopers Works Edition Mini Cooper is really perfect for starters... the clutch, transmission, drivetrain are all very good for beginners
Chicks dig it too
