UPDATE: Advice: Mitsu Rep

Alright fella's. I need your advice/experience w/ the mitsubishi warranty representative. I've only had my 05 evo for a few weeks. I've noticed the paint has these little rust spots all over the damn paint (everywhere).

Well I took it to a dealer today and they said they would have to call me when the representative comes at the end of the month. So he can take a look at it. I have a feeling they are going to deny me even though i have anti-corrosion warranty.

I'm going to take it to a auto paint shop and get an estimate on the damages. I'm hoping they can buff them out, but even if they do, they are going to probably need to thrown on an extra clear coat.

So what's everyone's experience with the rep? Should i worry about paying out of pocket or just not sweat it? Thanks guys!

UPDATE: Look on page 3

be honest, direct and courteous. Tell him what you expect from him as the area rep and that you expect to be treated like the valued customer you are.

Don't be overly aggressive, loud, or act like and a$$ and you most likely will have things go well.

Best of luck to you.

Mitsu had my 03 Eclipse repainted under warranty (with 60,000 miles on it), because the clear coat was defective and the paint was oxydizing everywhere. The rep does come out about once per month. I had a good experience at Fresno Mitsubishi. They were very accomodating. I'm going to guess that it all depends on the dealership. Being persistent and polite will most likely result in a new paint job for you (and a better one than the factory applied )

its not going to matter what you. mistubishi is full off A*SHOLES and trust me they will jerk you somehow, someway. whether they blow you off now, or tell you they will fix it and it gets painted like complete garbage, they will get you man. Your better off just sucking it up and getting the car repainted yourself. thats gonna be the quickest and painless solution.

Here is my question. Is the paint chipped with rust around it, or in the chip, or is the rust particle stuck into the paint without chips? BTW the corrosion warranty is for rust perforation, not surface rust.

I'd treat this almost as an interview. Dress the part as a valued customer when you meet the rep, and come across so. It would be too easy to right off an icyhotstunna clown in lieu of a business man with a firm, but good attitude. Good luck.

It actually looks more like rust from the outside in. The dealer said it looked like someone laid steel wool threads to the outside. Who knows. I'm going to take it to a paint shop to get their opinion b4 going back to rep.

I'm hoping a buff job w/ addition clear coat(praying is the better word )

I agree. When my Brembos started peeling, I mean barely peeling, my dealership said "gotta call the rep." Which I thought meant, "No A$$ munch, go away." He walked in, called the rep and came out 5 mins later and said - "Mr. West, 4 new brembos will be here by Monday, want me to schedule you an appointment?"

from my past experience, this is just rail rust from when the cars are shipped. little pieces of iron gets baked on the car then when it starts to oxidize it looks like rust. all they really need to do is clay the whole car. i had the same problem w/ my ralliart and they took care of it.

The paint is almost paper thin as it is. I would have a lot of hesitations about letting anyone buff the paint.
