Logical upgrade path for the Evo IX

I am wondering what the logical uprade path for IX is. I have seen with the WRX you want to get an ECU and DP, TP for a good boost in hp. They never recomend a MBC. What should be done with the IX to extend power?

A good start would be a drop in panel filter, turbo back exhaust, and a reflash. You will make a lot more power then stock for very little money.

I wouldn't do upper intercooler pipe, but I would do the lower.

Can you do just the DP and still get the same power as if you did a TBE?

I don't want the car to be any louder than stock.

For an EVO 9, I'd just do a reflash of the ECU and leave it at that. Nothing like gaining almost 100hp for so little....

For exhaust, from what I've seen, the DP iand cat are bigger restrictions than the catback. On my Evo 8, I only plan on doing the DP, going to a bigger cat and leaving the stock muffler and inter. pipe.

That is incorrect, if you just get a flash on a totally stock IX will will not gain 100hp.

IX upgrade path - TBE, MBC, Boost Gauge, Drop-in filter, Flash. That should get you near 330 whp on a Dynojet.

Yes (more power)/no (not as much as TBE), you will gain some power with a DP and no cat with a stock cat-back, but you will gain the most from a full TBE. There are aftermarket options that are quieter.

The DP/cat combo is more restrictive than the cat-back. If anything I would do the DP/no cat if I could not afford a full TBE.

Get rid of the stock cat. It's extremely restrictive as I found out the hard way.

Good way to start if you want to stay quiet with as much stock parts as possible with power gains are: MBC, filter, boost gauge, flash, and test pipe.

Andysoo is on the money there. Add an LICP, and that's as fast as you can get without making much noise over stock.
