Right behind the rear doors at the bottom of the fender, where all the rock chips are that go all the way to the steel.

I'm just letting my car rust, haven't washed it since October. I think it looks meaner that way.

A dirty car is an angry car.
I agree these are rally bred cars.

actually they are the same! i paint cars and know for a fact car manufacturers all use products like dupont, ppg and basf its just applied diffrently... The problem is only the metallic colors were clearcoated, the solids were not! people with metallic colored cars are bound to have less problems!

Your body shop guy obviously hasn't seen Mitsu's paint then.

If I had the chance to repaint my car the same color right now, I would jump all over it. That way the whole car has fresh paint and clear on the car.

single stage paint < base coat/ clear coat

I have the WW 03 VIII. Has anyone else had the problem of the front doors compared to the fender being completely different looking color. The doors are darker or dirtier looking, but it isn't dirty. The fender is very bright white. I don;t have a clue

Read one of my previous posts. My bodyshop called me telling me my car didn't match in those areas. i didn't think they were right, but in the right light they didn't match at all. It was like the doors had more black mixed in the paint.

If you want the paint to look good check out 3m handglaze only do a very small section at a time but it fills in scratches and works real well.

Mitsu doesn't use a clear on the EVO. The only color that gets a clear coat are pearls. I know this because when my car was rearended the bodyshop was confused to see a brand new car without clear. I contacted Mitsu and they told me what I stated above....

According to the PPG paint chip book, 2005 Mitsus used clear on all colors. 2003 did not clear over solid (not metallic) colors. I didn't look at 2004. I flipped thru the book some more and found that even BMW had at least one solid color that was not clear coated.

I was just stating what Mitsu told me. Best way to figure it out is to take some rubbing compound on your car and see if it turns the color of your car. Takes about 10 seconds.

The next 04, 05, and 06 EVO I see, I'll take some too it and see if its true or not.
