He could have been joking...he did have a cocky smirk on his face when he said it tho
Did the mutual admiration thing yesterday. An STI owner pulled up on me on hwy 12 while I was on my way to work. We were in traffic so we rolled down our windows and I yell to him "nice ride" He yells back thanks and asks what I have done to mine. I tell him I am mostly stock, he hollers back what sounded like upgraded turbo. At the next intersection he gives me a thumbs up and without drama makes his turn while I continue on my way. That is the kind of owner I respect. I dont automaticly hate on somebotys ride just because it is another manufactuer and hopefully I get the same respect back.

I had a jerk in a DSM with four kids in the car and I'd kick his butt every time.....and he kept doing the ricer fly-by. Id pull away and get ten car lengths. I consider that a win by all acounts even though I was hardly racing, just showing this kid he was an idiot.
A subaru STi was in the background watching the whole thing. We had a nice conversation, exchanged pleasantries and then stopped for a drink right off the highway. Cool guy...
I find moreover STi and Evo owners that are a bit older are mature and most of them are happy that they can share the joy with others.
But then there are those guys and gals who just think they're the best because they bought an STi because thats the one who has the higher horsepower rating, even though the Evo whoops its *** in many, many things. Magazine racers are those guys.

To some people, minding your own damn business is what they consider respect, so I wouldn't necessarily assume that he was showing disrespect -- it may have been the other way around from his point of view.
I wore a pair of blue jeans today. I saw at least 20 other people wearing jeans today and they didn't wave to me. They didn't even look at me. Should I be concerned?

you can't stereotype people that own high performance imports...
I myself am a kid so right there is a red flag to most
I have a 2005 STi when I see a wrx, sti or evo I wave...not necessarily to be like what's up man...more out of respect of his choice in automobile
but at the same time I've give a guy in a mustang cobra a head nod too
high performance cars yield a wide array of people

my STi friend is always talking about how fast his car is and how mine is slow. the only time we were near each other he couldn't keep up, when i know he was trying and he was claiming he wasn't.
so i basically said that he should have gotten a btch car if he wanted to drive like one.he's also a noob when it comes to driving manual, so anytime i do anything better than him driving it's never the car that's better it's because i'm the "better driver"
