Ive got 2 of the Rocky Mountain Radar RMR-C450 units (1 for the bike & 1 for the EVO). Its an all band detector & scrambler in 1 compact unit. Yes the scrambler function really does work. They sell them at Ks Merchandise for about $229.00.....

where can I pick up a valentine one. Ive been told if you are gonna get a detector to get that one from a few people. That and the fact that the techdemics guys say in their dvds that if you are gonna run the gumball 3000 or cannonball run that the valentine one is one of the essentials. Whats a good price for them to, I heard they go for around $500-$550?

Hmm...
You might want to do some research on what you bought.

I think the only place you can buy one is directly from them. Mike Valentine worked with Cinncinnati Microwave (now Escort) and then went out on his own. As I understand it he is part of a well known local family.

Their website valentine1.com lists the latest unit for $399. I bought mine when they first came out in 1992. When they came out with laser mine could not be upgraded or as far as I know traded in. I lost interest and now use an Escort Solo cordless which I am happy with.

It still kills me how everyone is so uptight about "arrows". Whoopdie freaking doo...so you know where the signal is coming from. Hey guess what, my X50 just said there's a signal out there and guess what I did? I slowed down just like you did and I used my eyes to pinpoint the cop. Has worked every time, no tickets in the 1+ year that I've owned it.

Keen observation and common sense will keep you out of speeding tickets a lot more than some stupid-*** arrows. And you'll have an extra $150 in your pocket for the gas that your burning.

V1

Ditto.

I strongly recommend the V1.

I've owned several different brands over the years (including a custom installed K40 front and rear setup) and the V1 is without a doubt the best I have ever used.

the valentine and x50 are exxxxtremely close...i have both the only difference is that the valentine tells you were the cop is...if you do a lot of city driving the valentine is the way to go. If you dont speed much around town and only on the highway the x50 is the way to go. i personally like the x50 more. i bought the valentine cause it was used for 2 weeks then the car it was in got totaled and the guy now has a bike so he has no use for it. either way ya can't go wrong...oh and the valentine is pretty big and clunky looking, the passport is much smaller and sleeker looking.

cheers

I was almost not going to post since this has been covered before but the V1 is by far the best you can buy. The people who bad mouth it obviously don't know what they are missing. For the person wondering which one to buy, spend the extra and buy the V1, you WILL not be dissappointed. Do it right the first time, don't spend money on the same thing twice. Good luck with your purchase.

You Valentine lovers are almost as bad as people who like Bose

Seriously though, the V1 is a great detector, but tests have PROVEN the X50/RX65 is superior in some categories (aside from a better value).

Coincedentally, despite the X50 and RX-65 being nearly identical, two HUGE advantages the RX-65 has (even over the X50) is that it detects the new Ku band, and you can upgrade the firmware WITHOUT sending the unit back.
