So can the V1

Regarding "pop radar" which the V1 poster touted, it doesn't matter if it detects it unless they're using an alternative way of verifying your speed. It's still not an accepted form or grounds for writing tickets.

Regarding the Escort vs. Valentine debate, you can't go wrong either way. They're going to both pickup radar from a distance no matter what direction it's coming from. In general you'll have time to slow down, but if they're just using their trigger option from some sneaky spot, you're screwed if they didn't hit someone else before you got into their sight.

Radar detectors are good, but none are a surefire protection from tickets. Just slow down if you get even a small blip and take it easy when going over overpasses/bridges. That's usually where they'll get you along with any place that has trees in the middle of the highway.

Has worked every time, no tickets in the 1+ year that I've owned it.

Keen observation and common sense will keep you out of speeding tickets a lot more than some stupid-*** arrows. And you'll have an extra $150 in your pocket for the gas that your burning.

V1

Funny how people are so obsessed with the V1 like it is so much better then the x50/RX65. It is like listneing people who think Macs are the greatest things in the world.

I did a lot of research before purchasing my Rx65 and there is no significant difference between the X50/Rx65 and V1 to justify the increase in price. Yes there are arrows, but like the quote above, when the alram goes off I slow down. Even if I actually see the cop I just passed, I wont gun it after that, I will still go slow for the next mile just to be safe. The three detectors all do the same thing, look for radar traces. They are all equally effective in detecting the most minute traces as quickly as possible.

If they were all the same price I would not mind having any of them, flip a coin to make my decision. But since there is a huge (at least for me) difference in price, I go for the better value.

I am interested if somebody can tell me why the V1 justifies the 150 difference in price. If it is really significant then I may change, but for now I am happy with my RX65.

V1 vs X50 is one of those often debated online things much like Evo vs. STi. Results are similar also, that being your not going to sway ones opinion by arguing about it online.
Do your own research and buy one.

i've had both an x50 and a v1...and i can safely say that they are about the same. I like the V1 better because it is updatable and the arrows are quite useful. either way...you'll have an added piece of mind that keeps you one step ahead of the cops!

We have V1's in everyone of my family's cars or they are hardwired waiting for one to be plugged in. Best $400 spent.

v1 or bust

i know people say woopdy doo about the arrows, but it just gives me more assurance when im driving. I can just make sure they are behind me..if they are i wont speed for a while..but if the arrow points forward i just know they are passing by. This gives me much more security. but yes this is alaways a neverennding battle just like evo vs sti..i just think of the v1 as the IX evo and the x50 as a 06sti.hahahah

After some consultation with my father, his work involved laser guidance optics for the military;he stated that any object on a vehicle will reflect back to the optics on the gun.The tests provided in the link bases most of the test around the front plate. That would be the most likely focal point but as I said before, the whole car will reflect the digital signal of the laser.

If I saw a forward arrow I wouldn't be content keeping up speed considering it could be a speed trap or just a cop ahead with a gun not necessarily going the opposite direction.
