Keep it recirculating. You will have stalling and drivability issues if you vent it to the atmosphere.

Sacraficing performance for the sake of making a blow off noise? Hmmmm?? Ya... Sounds like a real winner of an idea to me. Be a responsible Evo owner and stay out of your engine bay until you've learned and searched for your answer.

Its ok, make it go wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosh really loud, as loud as you can...
The stalling, sputtering, and performance kill is normal. But atleast you got the cool sound.

Sorry to be so... sarcastic. Once you've been on this forum for a while, you'll begin to understand. All the VTA threads get old quick. If you want to vent, it IS possible to do so and not sacrafice power, but it's not as simple as you may think. Please search on this topic. You'll find your answer. Trust me.

Also, good choice with keeping it recirculated. Your evo will love you more for it.

I got a Megan DP (3" of course) off this site for around $100 a while back. Then i had a local muffler shop bolt up a 3" pipe to the DP and weld my stock muffler tip to the end of it (to keep it looking stock) for another $55. No cat, no res., no muffler, no nothing. Basicly a long *** down pipe. That, mixed with cams, is almost TOO loud. I was running low on cash and couldn't stand running open DP anymore ... Although, in a way, i still am? It's just not so loud in the cab and doesn't rattle EVERYTHING (including my brain) anymore.
