Do's or Donts?

Im going to be buying some of the following parts i was wondering if there smart buys or not. if not maybe you can give me a substitute for it. im kinda new to the evo world so any help would be greatly appreciated.

#1 HKS 272/272 cams
#2 walbro 225 LPH fuel pump
#3 LICP- any suggestions that are cheaper and than others but just as good?
#4 i was thinking AEM EMS but i emailed amstuning.com and they sayed with my basic modds that would be a waist of money right now i should wait. so then i was thinking of getting a dinoflash
#4 hallman pro MBC-any other suggestions?
#5 gauges- blitz blm so far...but i heard that they were inaccurate. anyone have these?

Did i miss anything i should get?? if so please add.

I have buscher TBE, K&N drop in... my other question is... BOV's do we need them or are they all just for sound?

Thanks for any input you guys can give me.

Cams are a good choice...seems to be the most popular.
Definately need a fuel pump if you plan on putting more air into the cylinders
Automotosports (AMSperformance.com) has about the best LICP i've seen yet
Wouldn't bother with the AEM or any other "replacement" ECU until you have major mods. Try Dynoflash or Xede
MBC's are cheap and effective, but then you have to manually adjust them whenever the weather makes major changes.
And I prefer Defi gauges but they are pricey. Try the new Autometer Nexus gauges, they are hot.

I would go for vishnu xede im looking into one myself. also if you have an evo gsr or rs you have to replace the bypass valve with a better one because the stock plastic ones leak boost. i recommend the forge rs. ive tried vta valves just for fun but they dont run correctly on our MAF system otherwise i think u have chosen a very respectable set of items (p.s. get a rear strut the cheap ones work just fine)

I would do everything you have listed minus the AEM EMS, you will get great results with a dynoflash and save 1000$. I amon the exact mod path as you and plan on the dynoflash for my tune. Also you dont need a BOV you can search for days and find more info on why.....just get an evo 9 DV or a JDM DV

For ease of use you could go EBC instead of manual. Better for weather changing all the time. Other than that, good choices for a mod path. I have autometer ultra light gauges (Air/Fuel, EGT, and Boost) and they work very well. However, spend the extra and get a wideband Air/Fuel if you plan to tune a little. Autometer should have them out soon, and I plan on picking one up from them to match my remaining two gauges.

Evo-boy, the MR has the same BOV as the GSR and RS. The one you are referring to is the JDM MR DV...it's not on the USDM 05 MR. However, all IXs have the MR DV, but for Tpayne's purposes, all USDM VIIIs have the plastic BOV.

Yes, Tpayne, a recirculating Diverter Valve is very useful, especially if you are running higher-than-stock boost. It doesn't even make sound with the stock airbox, so that's not a feature. You need a JDM MR DV or Forge RS DV (adjustable and stronger, but more expensive). The rest is great, and here are my exact suggestions:

1) Forge UNOS MBC
2) Forge RS DV
3) Dynoflash
4) Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump
5) Buschur (or AMS) LICP

I'm also curious how you found out about Atlantic Motorsports (not AMS) when you're down in SC.

Do you ever plan on running race gas at times? Or plan on changing your set-up as time goes buy?

Yes, eventually i plan on a turbo upgrade. but no race gas in my future as of now.

Well warrtalon, im in the military and currently deployed to the desert. so im trying to map out the best and wisest way to spend my money on car parts when i get back. so im constantly emailing vendors and getting everyones info and opinions on the best possable path i should take, since just about everyone knows more than me right now. but im learning. so i guess i just kinda ran across them. i wasnt necessarily going to them for my parts or work. Im just trying to get some info right now. did i answer your queston at all? (it seemed like i kinda rambled on) but thanks for your info it helped a lot.

Heh, yeah, I was just curious, because they are a local vendor sponsor for the DCEvoClub, and they are A-W-E-S-O-M-E, so I was wondering how you found out about them. You couldn't go wrong getting parts from them - they are a sponsor here, too.
