Maybe i'll give a quality amp a try. So not all 5ch amps are created equal to the ears? You recommend kicker and JL? What about alpine V12 series?

Thanks for your input.

No ... unfortunately, you almost always get what you pay for. But definitely go with a 5 channel amp so you have the option of hooking up a sub later if you need it. Alpine V12 series has been around 4-ever ... and yes, is also very good too. You can't lose with any of them ... just try to grab the JL because it is definitely the cleanest out of the 3 ... and from there, try to find out which amp fits your budget the best. Let me know how everything works out ... I also must note that I own a JL Audio 500.5, which I believe that I actually mentioned already, and I absolutely love it. I've also used a V12 before and it's very good too! Good luck ...

Where is the best/good place for JL stuff cheap?

I've found it @ online car stero. Ouch. THat's $$. Think i rather get an alpine V12 450 or 540 from ebay or something?

Kicker amps has very good pricing. What's better between those and V12?

With JL, keep in mind that they do NOT warranty products that are sold on-line -- only from their own authorized dealers. That leaves you 2 options: Either buy from a local authorized dealer for maybe $100-150 off of retail (e.g. $750), or ... you can buy on line for like $500-550 or maybe even less, and use the on-line store's personal warranty or no warranty at all. Will the amp go bad ... most likely not ... but that's the chance you take to save a couple hundred up front. There are a couple of on-line stores that sell them and offer its own warranty (instead of JL WARRANTY) ... do a google search on JL Audio for that. Or, ewwwww ... check this out! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=18805

I think they are about equal in qaulity ... do some research if you can't find the JL at your price and buy which ever one appeals more to your needs.

I don't think i need that much power. I can see spending $$ on mod but that is a lot for one amp. that one amp cost as much as my whole stereo system so far.

I'm concerned with power consumption and sucking up the battery, and hidden accessories like capacitor, dynomate and etc. I just want sound like in a mercedes not crazy power hungry for sound.

Sound detening on my evo suck so bad anyways and putting such a system would be a waste. If i had my current stereo in my old M3 it'll probably sound 2X better just from all the insulation under the dash, trim and etc. I feel my stereo already sounds good but need bass so perhaps i'll try one of the kicker or V12 amps to see if there is a hugh differencd alone. You got me all curious now

I thought the basslink would be in my needs but i guess an amp would make my current system sound better than the mach 460 i had in the stange with crappy speakers. Thanks for your input, I'll definitly look for something that'll suit my needs. If i do go with a V12 is too much amp a good thing? Would i need a capacitor?

The Alpine or Kicker is fine .... this one may even be all you need! Or possibly the next 5-channel moe up?

If you are concerned with power consumption (you wouldn't with the amp listed), then all you would have to do is buy a cap for $50-80 new and as it constantly restores power in bursts back to your battery. I have a Stinger cap in my evo with the JL AMP and my lights (interior/exterior) do not dim at all.
