used evo question

Hey, newb here. I know you're all sick of these type of questions but you're the experts. Sorry to bore you with another.

There is a local dealer where I live selling an 04 evo VIII w/ssl and only 9000 miles for 21000. It was a theft recovery and I would have my mechanic look at it first. What do you think, is it worth looking at for a good price, or should I not waste my time?

Thanks for any advice!

Depends on whether it's a salvage title or not. If it's salvage then, no, not a good deal IMHO.

sorry I should have mentioned that, it's a rebuild and restore. I guess it's different from salvaged title, I don't know what makes it different though. I think it was only like a fender that was replaced, so maybe body damage constitutes "rebuild and restore"

Thanks

You need to know what the car thieves has done to it. If they just took the seats, bumpers, wheels then its fine. But if they messed with the engine, tranny, and other drivetrain parts then don't do it.

have your machanic and some evos guys take a look at it. 21k for an 04 ssl with 9k miles is a good deal , if the car checks out.

Didnt Riverside Mitsubishi just post a IX for 28449 or something? That's only 7k more, if you can swing it.

honestly you get what you pay for. With a new car, you have piece of mind that the car hasnt been abused and that everything is safe. If you buy that repaired car, will the warranty be 5 years 60k? If so, could you live with the fact that those guys who stole the car drove the crap out of it, or perhaps messed with the parts? If so then go for it. Its a gamble and thats why the price is so low.

I know any money saved is crucial however, IMO I woudl just get a new 9. Bank wont give a loan on a salvaged vehicle. Also you will have piece of mind and not to mention its a 9.
