S2000 owners post here for some clarification!

Wow, the S2000 has become more of a target than the SRT and STI. Yes, another thread, but I would like to see some input from Evo owners who currently have or had S2000. My wife has the 05 S2K and I have 05 VIII. Both of these are great cars! I don't race so I thought fellow owners may contribute their thougts, in a positive, unbiased view (here ). Here is my take, both stock, both awesome.

Handling: S2000, has less body roll, trickey if wet, handles well and feels "tight" although road imperfections upset it a bit more. The Evo is settled, but a little more body roll, wet roads seem to bother the Evo less than any other car I have had. Both have precise steering feel and let you feel every bump.

Performance: Evo builds speed more quickly, and with a good launch feels much quicker. Both are difficult to get a good launch (for different obvious reasons) and both can make you smile quicker than the camaro behind you.

Braking: I have to say they are very close, S2K has slightly better feel, but both are excellent.

Fuel economy (yeah, yeah): The Honda typically gets 4-5 mpg more (24-28). Both have small tanks.

Styling: Opinions, opinions, opinions, but you can't deny the beauty of the S2K. I personally like the look of the EVO also, but I think the S2k looks cute and the Evo looks "bad".

Shifting: The Evo is not bad, but the s2K gearbox is simply amazing. I think you will find this opinion backed up in almsot every review.

Overall: Well here goes, I like the Evo better, my wife likes the S2K better. Nothing beats a cool evening with the top down, or a winter sprint making SUV wonder. I would not hesitate to recomend either one of them, it comes to personal preference and practicality. To me, they are not in the same league to directly compare unless you consider they are the best cars in their class.

I have seen several with both cars posting on many topics, so here is one for us nuts!

Like I said before:

Looks- S2000
Handling- tied
Power- EVO
Brakes- S2000
Build Quality- S2000, S2000, S2000
Shifting- S2000
Street fun once modified - EVO!

Here's a twist, my S2000 is my winter car with Blizzaks and the EVO is the Garage queen.

Looks - tie
Handling - S2K
Power - Evo
Interior comfort - Evo
Brakes - S2K
Overall fun factor - Evo (sorry but boost wins for me)
And the Evo is just more useable. You can haul *** by yourself, or you can "haul ***" doing the speed limit with 3 girls in the car.

Lol, well your pretty much dead on, we had an 03 with full body kit, Volk wheels, cf hood, trunk etc... Definitely an eye catcher, but if I drove the Evo for a week then got int the S2K I was like wtf??? Where's the power at The S2K is a very nice car and I wouldnt mind having another "if" it was supercharged The S2K was my wifes car and she swore she'd never sell it, until we took a Z06 for a test drive and about a week later the S2K was up for sale So now she has the Z06 and doesnt regret it one bit. I like the look of the Evo it definitely looks mean IMO but our S2K was just sweet looking....

Wow, has this topic been beaten like a dead horse. Here is my S2000. I have a lot of mods and rims,(still have not come in from Bulletproof). I think the S looks better. It's more of an eyecatcher.

My point with the last pic is simple. I paid $1800 for that intake, netted me "maybe" 5-7 hp. Now can you imagine what I could've done to an Evo with that money? Lets now include the price of my header and exhaust(not installed yet), and my Evo would've been a street terror. The Evo is more mod friendly and can be driven year round.

Lets all just grown up and appreciate our cars. Who cares if someone else talks **** about our cars. We drive em, they don't. I like both cars for what they are. TWO DIFFERENT ONES.

stock vs. stock, the evo definitely has better braking. however, the stock brake pads really sucked on my '01 s2k and it made a world of difference when i switched to racing (greens) pads. brake feel? i'd give a slight edge to the S.

overall, i think the evo is just as fun, easily faster, and tons more practical than my s2k was.

I don't know how short you have to be to fit in the s2000 comfortably, but I can't even get into the dam thing. I’m sure its fun to drive but it size limits a lot of Americans from even considering this car. It was made for race car drivers who are generally smaller in weight and height.

stock for stock, Evo's far superior, period.

Evo : more room, more power, better braking, better suspension setup, better looks, bigger trunk, GLOVE COMPARTMENT, Backseats, better tires, better rims, better engine, better interior, better HID (lol), better headlights, better projectors for headlights, better ashtray, better stereo, better windshield wipers, better body panels, bigger aluminum hood that functions, better drive system (awd vs pseudo rwd), exponentially infinite possibility on power range (when was the last time you saw a 900whp s2k?) and better looking drivers that's not all 5 foot 4.

We also have bigger ***** than s2k owners. Because there is no way a real man could sit in a s2k and feel comfortable down there. Real man needs some leg room to let the boys breath! and move around!

S2k: better shifter by like 2%. The end. They can't even afford a real tach assembly, they have to use some knight rider, casio led tachs.

I dont know how tall u are but I am 5"10 and my S2000 was perfect... My friend was 6.2 and when he drove it he had no issues...

I think the S is made for people between 5"7 and 6"2~

oh come on dude. have you actually driven an S, let alone owned one?? if not, don't post crap like this.

1. the S2k has a better interior. it also has better HIDs. you would know this if you had owned one.

2. wtf is a "bigger alu hood that functions"??? the S has an alu hood too.

3. wtf is "pseudo rwd"??? that comment is...not smart.

posts like yours only make the rest of us look stupid.

Better engine... you might want to rethink what you post. its not always about power and the SK2 is a great great car.

Me neither. I am 6'2" But I am long legged and long armed. I can just barely fit and I feel like I'm just too big for the car. It is a shame because I do really like the way thye look and the way they handle. But other then that, I never thought of it seriously because the first time I drove one, I was very disapointed at the power. And this was back before I owned an Evo. My modded GS-T had way more fire under the hood and is a car I can feel comfortable in.

go get a s2k, if you love them so much.

I stand by my love for Evo.

And honestly, it's not lies.

If you think 4g63 isn't good because you blew it up few times, because you don't know how to take care of it, you're under a wrong impression.

There are tons of Evo owners having no problem whatsoever with their engines.

s2k is not a "great great car". If s2k is a "great great car" then miata is "great great great great great great great great great great great great great car", since it practically wins over every category over s2k.

s2k has NO interior. What are you talking about? I've owned one, had it for 6 months, traded it in for an Evo. I can't stand that car.

Only thing good on that car is the shifter, it's crisp and amazingly short. But that's where everything ends.

oh come on dude. have you actually driven an S, let alone owned one?? if not, don't post crap like this.

maybe if you were smart enough, you would understand why I said the things I said.

hid thing was a joke, we practically have the same bulb.

aluminum hood was a joke too, and yeh, that's why i said "bigger aluminum hood".

you're truely ignorant and It pains me to see a dumb evo owner coward before s2k owners.
