The reason I have not gotten a flash yet, is my warranty. Ive heard that if they look at your ECU they can tell its been messed with. What if my engine blows? I take it in and they look at the ECU determine its not their fault.
My father has a big turbo deisel pickup truck, with an awsome computer managment system. He can plug in this tool he has, and change the ECU to make 20, 40, 60 or 80 extra HP over stock. Then he can change it back to stock when he wants to. Ive seen him do this, and I've ALWAYS wanted something like this for the evo yet could never figure out why it hasn't been done.
Maybe its a price issue? I mean there's still a maximum ammount people will pay for a flash, so I guess maybe it costs too much to manufacture for the Evo crowd. I dont know, but thats why I dont have a flash and probably wont for the next 10 years
edit: I'm fairly confident that many people would like something like this..

Why not look into the Xede ?
.
I didn't yet. More or less waiting for a few mods and some time to have my car down. I know it's only a few days, but I work 6 days a week so it's hard to pull the ECU for a bit.
I plan on it when I take one of my vacations, just not sure which one and when exactly.
Not real sure who I'm going with yet, also. Trying to sort through all the junk and find the good info.
Not easy sometimes.

No. My evo is stock, it's my daily driver, and I don't want to screw it up. Also, I like having a warranty; it's why I buy new cars. Someone else can buy my car in the future (knowing it is in pristine and original condition) and mod it to his/her hearts content.
Voted no. I just recently got a code my ECU was throwing fixed by the dealer, so it was best to have the ECU unflashed when they were messing with it. If all goes well I should be getting one by summer, along with a turbo-back and some other goodies (just need the dealership to stop making my car worse when the "fix" it).

Any chance a vendor will release a "reflash device" which plugs into the OBD-II port, has a calibration loaded onto it, and uploads the new cal while retaining the stock one? That way the hassle/risk of shipping the ECU and associated downtime is zero...
And if this device could retain multiple calibrations it would be irresistible... if the price is right.

Doesn't matter how much you payed for it. Or what kind of reflash you got (ecutek, techtom, etc,.) Or how you got it (mail in or custom-tuned).
And if your answer is "No", please answer why not?
Thanks!
