Don't buy smaller tires man. Just get a set of used Advans in the for sale section or get some new 255/40R17 Falken Azeni RT-615s.

Blagh, it is very common and well-known. Many people run the exact tires I suggested. That's why I suggested them...

How do the 225's handle compared to what you had? It may not be that bad.

Don't the '06 Stis run 8" wide wheels? Wonder why Subi doesn't go to 235s or 245s.

Just like eveyone said, the 225s would fit but you can go bigger.

would 18" x 8.5", 5x114.3, et43(offset) wheels fit on an Evo IX without any problems?

Possibly to try to stiffen the sidewall to create a better turn in.

Please do not threadjack. There is an entire section where these questions can be asked.

I agree, going down to 225's cant be a good thing. I had to look around but I found a set of Advans on Evo IX rims for $800 and only 200 miles new. Also I have heard of people running the abouve 255's without any problems. Good luck.

The RE070's that come on the STi may say 225 for the size. But they are acually the size of a normal 235 or even some 245 tires.

apparently the 225 size on the wider rim for the sti improved steering response or something. I remember hearing it on some auto news show and thought it was interesting.
