Wingless really is the Sleeper Mode

what good is that going to do you?
I like the idea of wingless with just a small lip spoiler just to finish off the trunk.
I'm going to try a few months with and then without the wing to get a sense of the attention (pro and con) for myself.
Given the general consensus of most of the posts here, if you want to aviod the numb-nut ricers, street racing nitwits, and Johnny Law, going wingless can help you aviod the unwanted attention.

I switched to the small wing and have for the first time received compliments about my car. Everything from WOW that looks much better and much classier to it looks like a sporty BMW or a cool European sports car... I will take that along with the better vision through the rearview mirror and no more flaking clear coat...
I have been surprised how much better received the car has been with the low profile spoiler.
The only real negative comments I have heard are from the hard core EVO guys on this site that prefer the big CF wing…

I tried to take the wing off once but I didn't really want to pry on the wing to get it to free itself from the double sided adhesive after the nuts were removed. What do I need to do... use fishing line or something? Also, what is recommended for plugging up the 4 holes on a white Evo?
It is a bit of a pain to get the wing off, but it comes of with some work. I think some sort of line would be a great idea, not sure how you could get between the mounts though. I used a thin plastic spatula to cut through the adhesive. I was going to go wingless, but when I saw the number and size of the holes I decided a small wing was well worth it to cover the holes...
OK, I gave up on the vortex generator idea; I test-fitted it and I didn't like its looks. I do think the smaller wing will look good. I just hope the finish is nice.
There are about 25 threads on how to remove the wing, but once your remove the two screws and two nuts, you just need to heat up the tape with a hair dryer for about five minutes per side, then pull up strong and steady for a minute or so; eventually the tape will give. I cleaned everything up and put small appliance feet over the holes.

But I have a small Lancer oz wing for sale, I will take pictures if there is interest but it is boxed up and ready to ship. If you are interested pm me with an offer or hit me up on aim. My screen name is skullnbones28.
Using a hair dryer is a pretty good idea, but wouldn't it be easier to use a heat gun? I used one to debadge my trunk and it worked great! Plus it didn't mess up my paint at all, and taking the emblems off couldn't be easier. I'm sure the tape for the wing would be the same way.
Alot less attention, and as far as I'm concerned it's great. No ricers, no domestics trying to evo hunt, cops don't even second look. It was my second planned mod before I even picked up my car. People in general have been more warm to my car since the wing is gone. If I ever get tired of it, the other deck lid can go back on
I really like the wingless/mid wing look, will probably buy a CF trunk lid so i can go wingless from time to time. When I first told my parents about the evo and showed it to them they were like "what the heck is up with that spoiler? we thought that is what you are against in import cars?" I said sure cars that don't use it like an evo.
