Question front license plate

I live in Maryland and got some tickets for no front plate as alot of evo owners have. Is there a way to mount the plate without drilling in the bumper. Right now I am uing zip ties but it is in the center of the intercooler. Will that restrict are and make the intercooler to warm.

Yes that will block air flow to the intercooler.

If I'm not mistaken, the evo 8 had a spot to put in a bracket to the right of the air dam without having to drill. No such luck on my new one!

It says you drive an 8. You do NOT need to drill any holes to mount the front license plate bracket. Yes the instructions tell you to drill 1 hole, however, it is not necessary. There are 2 hard mounting locations that you can bolt to and if you use a piece of double sided tape on the location where you are supposed to drill the hole you will have no problems.

yeah use the bracket that came with the car, you use some bolts that are already there are I didn't drill. And it doesn't block the interceooler. If you cant find the bracket, mine was in the trunk in the side compartment opposite the windshield washer bottle.

I did the same thing after I seen the size of the hole to drill. I have had the double sided tape on the lower bracket as well. Works fine.

me too..use 3m double side tape///

u have to heat the double side tape good with heat gun....
once u heat it and put the tape on to bumper and license plate.... it will never fall off...thats how i did on mine still holding good ......
if u dont heat it,, whats the point of using double tape??? trust me on this one! i do this for living.

I used the "pull tab" temporary double sided foam tape for mine. That way if I want to take it off, pull the tab, clean the spot, it's gone.

I dont like the look of the black plastic mounting frame that comes with the Evo 8 and I didnt like the idea of drilling the bumper either, and I tried the ziptied onto the mesh grill , but it looks dog awful....so I just used the metal bracketry that mounts the frame to the bumber but without the plastic thing and without drilling holes either.
