Coolant flush question...

Today I finally flushed my coolant. After i drain the coolant, I forgot to turn the engine on while flushing the system with my hose water. I then added the new coolant+water.... does this mean I still have some old coolant left in the engine? will I be ok? btw I used half a gallon antifreeze and the rest with distilled water. thanks....

first off. you didn't need to turn on your engine to flush your coolant, no need for that extreme. Also why mix it yourself when you can buy prestone 50/50 mixed coolant?

+1

Also, you may want to consider some water wetter

I always thought by turning the engine on while flushing with the hose will get rid of the old coolant in the block. Correct me if I'm wrong. I live in arizona so i tried to mix it myself to get 15%-20% antifreeze. Water wetter was also added today.

Your fine, the leftover coolant is minimal.

To the other posters, why buy pre mixed? have you priced it? It's the same price for premixed and you get 50% less product!

if you pull the thermostat and lower rad hose and run your garden hose from the thermostat and then from the lower part a few times back and forth you should of got all of it out.

Personal experience.
Drain it and fill it. No need for flushing.

Do it once a year and you should be fine. Never had a problem on my past rides.
I live in the MidWest.
