I have heard from my friends at US Subie Dealers that a 5K mark up will be added at least in S. Cal.

The MSRP for the STi is $30,995.
There are no Factory options on the STi
The DCCD, BBS Wheels, Six speed - all standard.
There is no carbon fiber wing option.
There many more Subaru dealers that are going to sell them for MSRP, from day one, than there were Mistubishi dealers that were willing to sell Evo's for MSRP. Or still are, the Mitsu dealers around here are still all marked up until all the rich/Microsoft people stop buying them at 5-12K over MSRP. I can wait.
You love your evo - Fine I am glad. But dont spread rumors about stuff that has already been released and can be verified. All of the above info you can find on this board if you go look for it.
And last time I checked - Seattle, WA is part of the U.S. I don't think Canada is planning on annexing us anytime soon

Most people weather they buy the Lancer or Subie will never realize the full potential of their car on the street anyway. How many people are going to take their 30K plus car and go race it? Not many. Lets stick to what this board is for. A tribute to the Lancer, and Lancer EVO.

Yes this is a lancer board, and it is also the Internet. If you post info that is wrong - people are going to correct you on it. If you post an opinion, some people are going to disagree with you.
Thats just the nature of the web

Edit - Oh yeah. I guess the answer to the original question - Are you a true fan? The answer would be no, according to how you define a "true fan". But I do love the Evo.

My Post Part 4
The Reason people are paying over MSRP for the Lancer is availbility, remember now there are only 6000 going to the USA for this whole year. So there are no wheeling and dealing on any limitied production car. I am not sure, but most likely the STi will be limited in numbers as well, and seeing Lancer EVO's going for 20G's over in some areas in California, expect the same for the STi if, and I say IF it is limited production. I have heard the average mark up for the Lancer being 5G's, some pay less, some pay more, or not any mark up at all if your lucky enough. As for the trick drivetrain stuff on the Lancer and STi no, I am not a guru with it. I am sorry for making a bad comparo then. It still puzzles me though why there is so much talk about a Subaru on a Mitsubishi web page. I am a fan of the STi too, but I didn't buy one. I like the Lancer better for my own reasons, I could afford either one, but chose the Lancer for personal reasons. But I thought this website was dedicated to Mitsubishi's in particular the Lancer, and Lancer EVO. It just seems people argue points about a car they don't have on a board that represents a brand they don't really like. Its odd is all. I guess I got spoiled on B15Sentra.net where we loved our Sentra's and where Loyal to Nissan. No arguements there over other makes, and when I got my Lancer, they were happy for me. Here I here people say I am into myself and all, and that being a Mitsubishi Fan is redicuolous. Maybe it is to people that just don't really like Mitsubishi, but like the Lancer a bit. I don't think they like it enough or there would be no question in there mind if they would get one or not. When I watch WRC fro the past 10 years, I always rooted for Mitsubishi, now that they are down and out, and Tommi Left, all of sudden Subaru is cool now. mmmm Jumping ship?? Not me, I stick with the Team even when they are down. But that is another post all together. Lets just keep this board to Mitsubishi, that is why we are all here anyway right?

My point about the quality, or performance for that matter, in the RoW is - It doesn't matter if I can't buy the car. For instace the English Evo VI/VII may have been the best Evo ever built. Doesn't matter since I can't legaly buy and drive one here in the U.S.

Your the one that quoted them - and your I took your sarcasm on the subject to indicate that JD Power IS something meaningfull to you:
I personally don't care about the JDpower stuff, pretty much for the reasons you just stated.
The recall isn't the root issue. The fact that Mistubishi has been hiding the customer complaints and defects from the government for 30 years to avoid recalls is the issue. It is unethical and shows that they know/knew they had problems.
OK - you can continue to believe that there are no facts that are proven or verifiable about quality, since you choose to believe that they are all faulty or skewed results.
I put my money were I feel it will get me the most value. I don't have loyality to a specific manufacturer just because they happen to have produced one nice car, or a bunch of nice cars in the past. I base my decision on what is available today, from the data that is available today. If the Evo was 200HP, I probably would not buy it and would end up with the STi.
If your buying a car just because it's a Mitsubishi, I say your a fool. The same as I would say if you were buying a car just because it's a Porsche, BMW, or Ferrari. As I said before, I buy cars because of how they drive, not who makes them.
loyalist in terms of car ownership. I've owned Honda, Mazda, Ford(
) and a whole host of other cars. My issue is, as stated before, with the gross over-generalizations made in regard to
quality.I digress, enjoy the car you buy and own, I'll do the same.
Whoa some of you guys are bandwagon jumpers. Hehe. Dang why did you guys buy this car? If STi is better good for them. Im a true Lancer fan, but not a mitsubishi fan. Why you guys bashing on a guy who loves mitsubishi. THIS IS A LANCER SITE. CHERISH THE LANCER BEFORE ITS GONE lol.
