Damn, I just got the Walbro whine...
It whines but it's not that big of a deal. This is assuming you can hear it over the road noise of the tires, the whine of the x-case, or the banging of the dual springs in my valve train.
Meh, deal with it.

THANKS!

1. Low fuel

All of these are triggers for my walbro to whine.

I thought maybe the acoustics of the Evo were different because my Walbro wasn't whining like my DSM. 1 month later and it whines sometimes. Rolling up/down the windows makes it change to a lower pitch. I only hear it when I'm idling. I don't think there is anything you can do about it. In my eclipse I tried putting dynamat over the pump, but that didn't work because I think it is using the acoustics of the whole gas tank. You would probably have to cover the whole tank in dynamat along with the protrusion into the body. Not worth it as it's not really that annoying to me.
The one in my Eclipse is pretty loud, especially when I get get off the freeway or something. It's funny because I hear different tone when I turn on my turn-signal or something. Doesn't bother me, though.
I don't hear the one in the Evo so much.

DSMers use stock Supra TT fuel pumps. They flow around 255 also and are quiet, plus you have that oem Toyota reliability on top of that. I'd assume Evo's would be able to make them work as well.

Very well said. I actually think it sounds cool. I have no problem with my car being loud. Otherwise I would have stuck with the IS300 I had before this.
Mine started whining after a year. It doesn't whine now that it's been replaced.
Funny, it started making a lot of noise on a hot day.
I've heard there are a couple of versions of the 255 lph. I wonder if that's why some whine and some don't.
