Damn, I just got the Walbro whine...

This morning on the way to work the Walbro 255 fuel pump started the infamous whine I have read about. It sounds like a UFO is hovering under my back seat . Does anyone know what causes this .

I don't want to have to hear that crap. Is there a comparable pump out there that does not do this?

have had one in my gsx for a long time now and it was always loud like you guys speak of. Its the price you pay when you get a walbro.

The whining is not much of a problem.. ive had 4 different walbros on 4 of my evos.. 2 of them did not whine and the other 2 did.. I guess its just luck of the draw... the ones that whined gave me no problems at all so it shouldnt be much to worry about except for the annoying sound

All of them that I had for my DSMs whined. I don't know of any replacement pump. I suppose you could go nuts and try one of the big Holley, Aeromotive or Edelbrock pumps, but they are usually diesigned for 800whp+ applications. I can't imagine something like that being quieter.

It won't. Because its only going to be bothersome when you are idling, or at low speeds.

does it pause for a second if you hit the window switch?

example: all the windows are up, and you hit up on the switch, does it pause and then continue......
