I am getting ready to put some more parts on my evo. I had a whiney walbro in my old GSX, and it really didn't bother me too much. However, I noticed this pump says it performs the same and doesn't whine.... Has anyone ever tried it?

mine doesnt, yet anyway. intake = more noise, exhaust = more noise, bigger turbo = more noise....if you want your car faster, you're gonna have a lot of noise. quit complaining

I don't think a bigger pump will help either. I can here the pump in my Camaro over the 502 with open headers.

Mine whines, I like hearing it. When its 110 outside, it sounds like a RC heli turbine, I have graphite grey so it gets hot.

Funny, it started making a lot of noise on a hot day.

The most lethal conditions for a fuel pump are "hot day" and "low fuel in the tank". The fuel pump is cooled by, yep, being surrounded by fuel in the tank. When your fuel level is low and it's how, the pump can get very hot.

Auto parts stores sell most of their replacement fuel pumps in a couple months in the summer. That's why.

I had an 044 mounted in-tank in my Lancer GSR and that whined LOUD.
But I loved it, sounded mean as when the car was idling outside and you could hear the pump over the exhaust standing next too the car?!
Inside wasn't so annoying unless you had the blinkers on and the stereo off.

holy crap how did I miss this!...Sounds horrible!.

I know you have to give up some things to go fast but a loud whine for no damn reason bothering the hell out of you? No thanks.

Besides is this pump really necesary with a Evo 9 with minimal mods.

Its a $100 insurance to supply enough fuel when you start running more boost. I've had it for a few months now and no whine yet...
