Mitsubishi Leaving the US Market? | [MERGED]

Remember that in order for the deal to look palatable to a buyer, there has to be value there, and I assume that it's not just the dealer network but the opportunity to sell Mitsubishi products in the USA.
Toyota already does this in the US with the Southeast and Gulf States regions, the distributors in those areas are independently owned with an agreement with Toyota Motor Sales to provide marketing collateral like brochures.

I can see the possibility of USA Mistubishi sales being managed by another company - like in the case of Subaru in the North East is run by a seperate importer than SOA due to previous contarctual relationships
is not going to stop as a business for some time due to the huge investment recently made by its backers This is a restructing attempt

Either that or they are selling off part of the plant to raise cash. Or some other partnership agreement. Running only one shift at Normal is a waste, so getting it up to full capacity, wether it is building Mitsubishis and/or something else is a priority.

Looks like
is trying to stick it out and stay in the US market. They expect to turn a profit again here by 2007.

I guess all that $$ they spent sucking up to Magazine Editors didn't pay off, too bad I guess, but when u drop a awfull suv like the Endevor and other crappy looking cars, and then offer 0 percent financing and no payments for a year, its going to catch up with them, way to go Miitsu,
Honestly we won't know what is going to happen until it happens .... but I tend to side with the people who think the value of our cars will go up. I know parts will be a problem and will probably cost a lot but at them same time this not an ordinary car that most ordinary people buy. This car is sought out by car enthusiast and EVO fans, a specific niche crowd and for people like this, the value of the car becomes what they are willing to pay to possess one. I also think what most of you are saying about car value going down is true but it might not apply to the EVO, just as the KBB doesn't apply to the Supra! If anything I think our car will become a cult classic. I am one of those that love my EVO and will drive it into the ground. Now if there are more like me and they refuse to sell theirs ..... well you know the rest. Again all of this is just speculation .... we won't know for sure .... I hope they stay in business and strengthen their position.

is a HUGE global corporation that makes everything from automobiles to television sets to airliner parts...they have tons of $$$ to prop up MMNA...

Selling the division, or spinning it off, or making deep cuts, etc. Something's gotta give, or Mitsubishi won't be able to explain to its shareholders why it keep losing big bucks on US car operations.
has already allocated $$$ for MMNA...but if
DOES pull out of North America, then I might just drive my Evo into a lake and buy another Vette...
