The sound of a BOV - what is the appeal?

...pretty much all car enthusiasts love the sound.

OK, so far we have:
1. "The Fast and the Furious"
2. " i enjyed watching people jump"
3. "You don't hear that from your "average" cars."
4. "noise gets attention" (goes hand-in-hand with reason 2)
5. "it's kind of synonomus with the sound of a nice exhaust system or a turbo spooling." (not unlike reason 3)
Edit: almost forgot...
6. "To let the average whomever know your driving a Turboed car" (similar to reasons 3 and 5)

If you ask me why I like something, I'll most likely be able to tell you. So far, I haven't heard many reasons other than those that hinge on the individual's perception of being seen by others.
When I was young, I had my 1989 Toyota Supra turbo with HKS BOV to VTA.(need to add HKS VPC to solve the idle problem that like our evo's). At that time not too many people know what is the BOV ?? The cool sound make people turn head. everyone want to check out my car when I go street racing on weekend night. Now I am 40 , stock evo 9 BOV sounds just fine for me
I think the bov vent to air is all a matter of opinion. I do think it is rather retarded when people vent their bov and suffer ideling problems. If you can do it without having that problem, I say go ahead with the cool whoosh. I have the greddy type s and has worked great. It is currently recirculating and has been since I bought it. I have had the AEM ems for about three months now and just recently decided to vent my bov because I wont suffer on idle. So my greddy plug is on the way. Ha.... I laugh at myself because I like the cheesy whoosh "Paul Walker" sound. Turbo cars are meant to be heard, so lets here them roar!!
If I wanted a quite car I would have stuck with my old pos IS300
