I got rid of my HKS, cause it got annoying after two years, but I did like the fact that it sounded nice, and it doubled as a second horn. If you heard the BOV that meant "Move...b**** get out da way.."

But it was bad for my car and I like that it is back to a quiet state now.

I've always liked the sound.. call it cool, call it wonder or amazement. To me, I've heard semi's go by and hear all the neat sounds that I don't normally hear. I am running a type-S on my Evo. Why? Well I had it left over from my DSM that I sold. I've been running dsm's for 6/7 years prior.. and that mod is always one that needs to be taken care of. Sure, I could upgrade to the 1g BOV and crush it. The result with a metal intake? The cool sound. Now the type-S and others to me sound interesting, I know I'm running forced induction. I can control it by not letting off the throttle fast, but by backing off slowly. Something that I can't control, is the turbo spool sound. Personally I think it's cool. I do feel bad when it screams so loud and I'm only at part throttle. The BOV is controllable though. It's just association and a neat sound if you ask me. I've always watched or heard supras or supercars zipping along and have associated the louder exhausts and turbo/supercharger sounds. To each his own.

My Greddy-S is the same on my DSM. 100% recirculating, but it's loud and seems to be louder the less boost I am pushing. Like 0-5 lbs is the loudest; WOT it's barely noticable; hell, even "negitive boost" makes a noise.

It works well, which is most important to me, so I guess I can't complain.

My GF liked the sound my Eclipse made w/ the SSQBOV and she still asks when I'm going to make my Evo sound like that lol. She thought it sounded really cool. It got annoying to me after a while.

Herein lies the irony - one does hear that sound from average cars, and there no personal differentiation when so many cars have it. As another poster mentioned, there was a time when the BOV sound was different and new. The sound was a byproduct of a performance modification, now the emphasis is on the byproduct, itself, even when it's detrimental to performance.

Get over it.
Get over what, exactly?

You must hate BOV's like I hate ringtones. I really really really hate ringtones. Get a ******* regular ring people. It's a phone, not a ******* MP3 player. I don't need to hear Beethoven's 5th when you get a friggin' phone call. A simple "rriiiing" or any other repetitive notification is the only thing that should be allowed on cell phones. All you people using ringtones must die.

I can't say that I hate BOVs; I just don't understand them. In all truth, sometimes I laugh uncontrollably when next to a car with a loud BOV, but mostly I think they're kind of interesting as an automotive/social phenomenon, if you will. Ringtones, OTOH, I really don't like ;-).

Umm...
that isn't near the same thing at all. Not unless you know someone that everytime they turn on thier phone, it sits there ringing all day long. (never gonna happen)

In your car, everytime you turn it on and drive, you hear that sound.
I would assume that people only hear their phone ringing for a total of about 3-4 minutes a day.

My last 2 phones allowed me to take any MP3 from my computer and put it as a ringtone. I could have up to 150 full length MP3s on my phone aswell.
Now that I got my new Sony Ericcson W800i and havent changed the ringer from the default ringer, I realised how ****ing annoying other peoples ringers are.
Sometimes they make me laugh when someone has a really funny ringer, but when people pick like good songs, that arent funny, but just songs they like, it is very annoying.

It is the new Fart Can....Instead of having a loud exhaust, due to Ricer comments, these ricers at heart decided to disguise their game and install a BOV. I saw a black civic with bodykit, STOCK wheels, loud exhaust about 100 decibels idle (didnt measure it but it was hella loud), and a BOV (obviosly it was force inducted). Still slow as crap. I manage to pull ahead while shifting at 3000 rpm. I am Bone Stock.
