Using cams with no flash tuning

Is it possible (and probable) to run cams (such as HKS or Buddy Club 272/272) without a flash and not have any problems? I plan on installing these and then making a trip to WORKS (a 4 hour drive) to get everything tuned. Am I going to run into problems, or will everything work out fine?

You dont need a flash to run cams but the idle wont be as good as it will be with the flash cause tuners adjust the stock idle speed motor etc to help smotth the idle out alot.

You might have some stalling issues in stop&go driving, but freeway cruising should be ok. I remember a guy a long time ago who drove around on 272's and no tune for a while.

just stay in closed loop ecu operation. aka no boost. If they stumble too much at idle, (my 272 gsc's were fine) you can bump your idle up with the screw on the intake manifold

^^...

or if ur too lazy, just keep ur throttle slightly open at all times by keeping ur foot on the gas. Ghetto fix since its only a 4hr(mostly highway) trip

well, with cams you have more air entering into the motor, how much this changes your a/f ratio, i am not sure. If you have a stock ecu tune, you run rich as **** anyways, so you should be fine being untuned. But still get them cams tuned!

FYI - My tune for cams means a slight timing retard up top and 12% LESS fuel up top as well.

The timing pull is due to the lean AFR that the tune provides so in reality you can beat the living crap out of your car without a tune and it will probably be safer then it will be after a tune (just with a little less HP).
