Driving with p0401 CEL code?

Will driving with p0401 code damage the engine in any way?
It is the EGR insufficient flow error... I was told it's purely for
emissions and that it's ok to drive with that CEL on. Does the
engine then run in "safe mode" with super rich AFR??

The hose nipple broke off the EGR selenoid... so dealer is trying
to get the part... so before that I would need to drive with that CEL
on...

Thanks.

vacum hose diconnected. Go behind the thottle and feel for a nipple. Then find the vacum hose right there also and conect them. Zip tie and your good to go

kreionic,

Thanks for the reply.
But it's not the hose... the hoses are in good shape (from what I can tell).. but the
EGR vacuum selenoid broke... dealer is trying to order a new one and it's taking a while.

So I'm wondering if it's ok to drive around with that CEL on... I've hear that engine will
run super rich destroying the plugs...

Thanks.

My buddy ran with this light on for 6 months. His car seems to be okay. It ran really rich and he says the gas milage went down. We fixed it and now it runs well again.
