I'm away from my house and I need to do an oil change...all I have with me is the stock jack and two 2 ton jack stands...where do people reccommend that I place the jack stands so I can safely change the oil? Thanks

Well there should be 2 slits on both sides of the car for the front and back, just place the stock jack between those 2 points on the right side. To make things a little easier you can remove the right wheel to change your oil/filter.

As close to where you jack up the car. You should be able to change the oil by jacking up the side that's opposite of the oil pan.

^^^^what he said, look in your owners manual, it shows you where the two slits are for the jack stand locations. if you look under the car on the sides right behind the front wheels and right before the rear wheels along the raised metal ridge there will be indents.

Exclamation Jack stands

I know you're away from home but you should ALWAYS place the car on stands in case of a jack failure. Hate to lose anyone that way.

If you at all care about your under body appearance, DO NOT USE that area for the jackstands. It will crumple and fold over and end up looking like ***. Place the jack stands on the front frame rail area where it is doubled over. I also used rubberized pads on the jacks stands to prevent scratching, but I'm just overly protective.

I would definately put it on the frame rails also. The slit of the body where you jack it up just isn't safe enough to put jackstands on. The jackstands I have don't have a line for the slits to go into like the factory jack, they are just smooth like a "U" on the mounting points. Put them under the part of the frams rails where they both connect and you'll be fine.

Its true, jacks and jackstands will eat that metal up. I get scared because the structural integrity looks like its compromised.
